LOL Roy...all healing properties of SASSalsa are directly from consumption.
From the inside out.  My friend suggested that perhaps that was a Vidalia Onion in there, not a tomato. smile

Somehow though, not as gruesome as I had expected. A little bit of Ms. Tia's makeup should disguise the scar nicely.... big_smile

Looks a bit like a seam on a Rawlings baseball. Could throw a wicked curveball with that.

Re: Conspicuous by my absence

I got a note the other day that put it pretty simple.  Lil Bit said it too.  Thank God they didn't make you boring.  lol

The Physical Therapist guy came in my last day in the hospital and told me he had read my chart.  I almost passed out from suprise.  He put me through my paces and pronounced me free to go.  At the end he said "Very good Mr. Jones.  You didn't cheat once."

"Fail," said I, "but don't cheat."  "Just go easy to start.  You're a miracle."  he grinned.   "You pass!"

How "bout a slider?

Last night my mother-in-law brought over babyback ribs, salad and a loaf of fancy bread.  I thought that was a classy thing to do.

My number 1 son just walked in the door from College and told us he's been chosen to go to study abroad.  I winked and said that's what you're supposed to do in college, son. wink

No Dad...AUSTRALIA.  WHOA. I gulped.  No worries he said, It's part of my scholarship.

Wrote a few credit card companies about my predicament and asked them to close the card and give me a hardship rate to pay it down.

No, they said. NO rate reduction is available on your card.  HARRUMPH!  We'll see bout dat.

Melatonin Big Jeff. I can't sleep much more than 6 hours on a good night even with it but when I'm in a hotel room next to railroad tracks or an interstate, 2 of those 3 mg tabs will get me through a 6.0 earthquake. I think melatonin is produced in the pituitary gland. Hopefully yours wasn't in that mass they removed.
You can mix in some valerian root too, that will help.

I'm sure others (Sister Cate?) know of some other herbal remedies that will get you some shuteye.

Major Tom to ground control...

Jeez, Jeff. Today is the first time I've found time to browse on here and what do I find?

The last 6 pages of this thread have had me gasping for you! How pleased I am to hear you are on the mend, what an ordeal. You have our love and best wishes for a steady recovery. You must have the constitution of an Ox.

Despite being next to deaths door you found the time to wish me a happy birthday. I'm utterly speachless.

Given that he does have the mettle of an Ox, Geoff, if he can get to the Super Bowl even if in a wheel chair and play bass with The Who? at halftime show, I WOULD watch for once.  With that Michael Jackson meeting, I have waited until now to ask Jeff, WHICH place was it you ran into Michael anyway???!!! smile

Re: Conspicuous by my absence

Sorry Jeff, maybe a dumb question, but why exactly can't you sleep with all the pain killers you get? I imagine it's not because you're in too much pain - do you just lie there thinking and worrying, or is it pain despite the medication? Just wondering, don't mean to pry. wink

Rocket:  I REALLY don't know...didn't seem too warm.  big_smile  The Ox?  oh yeah.

Hammer:  Naw it's OK.  Narcotics have never really made me sleepy and I'm backing up off them as rapidly as I dare.  So there is still plenty pain, but me brave.  I've never been a super sound sleeper; probably some wreckage of my past.  I am hyper-sensitive to noise now, and I do often just sit there...listening.  roll

Once I'm cleared to move, I'll sleep then. No worries.  But Tom's idea is excellent as well.  Spoke to my local health food brother just a bit ago.

GABA, Melatonin, etc.

I'm not a medical authority or anything, but Jeff if you are on any blood thinners to avoid blood clots, etc. make sure you get clearance for anything you take.

Yes Ma'am!  No blood thinners, no NSAIDS.  I looked at some of the hard stuff I'm cleared for...naw, that's awright.  The organic does the same thing...Doc said, "Mr. Jones, sleep is crucial to your recovery."

All of the natural stuff cleared...in writing. smile

Hey BJJ

I've only just seen this thread, seems you are lucky to be still with us.

You've just had a lot of plugs pulled out of the switchboard.

Whilst you are sleeping, the brain is plugging them back in again, one at a time.

Lucky?  Without a doubt.  I suppose it's natural to wonder why me?  I always get the same answer...Why not you?
I've often thought (subconsciously) that being tough was probably more accurately measured by how much can you take rather than how much you dish out.
