Bad news Phillips is rescheduling:
Philip Sayce Just wanted to let everybody know that we're still in the midst of mixing the album. It's sounding awesome, if I may say so myself. We were meant to leave for Europe this week, but now won't be leaving until the 6th of October...sucks...BUT we'll be there and it’ll be well worth the wait! Dates are being rescheduled as I write this, & we'll have them online soon. Can’t wait to see you in a couple of weeks...
All 3 Dutch shows cancelled too.
According to www.bluesmagazine.nl he has problems with a handinjury and his doctor forbid him to play, he must take his rest.
Would have loved to see him, well next time!

Thats not right, he is still in the studio (which is fair enough).

A colleague has received an e-mail to say that Philip has rescheduled the Dingwalls gig for Sunday, 18th October. Not a good day for me so may have to reconsider.

Did anyone catch Philip in Germany? If so, how was it? Will anyone catch Philip in the UK?
I take it this is positive?

Landed at Gatwick at 1pm, home at 4pm for a bite to eat, shower and change and I'm the out door in the next 5 mins for a two hour journey back to London. See you at Dingwalls. (After that, it's another two hour journey home, four hours sleep and another 1 1/2 hour journey back to London - this time to work. It's all go.
)
eldo, I expect to see you there too!
Phil
Once again.....my radar has been malfunctioning and another young guitartist slipped through unnoticed. However, I am currently listening to Peace Machine, and I am very impressed. Think this one needs a bump with his new European tour dates up for your perusal. Looking forward to hearing him live after reading your comments so far, will check out his vids when i'm "on break"!!!

Hi Paul, you need to a) keep up with the posts here (there is also another Philip Sayce thread) and b) take out a subscription to Blues Matters!
The current issue (52) includes my review of Philip’s gig at Dingwalls in October and one of Martin’s fantastic photos of Philip. Here’s what I said:
PHILIP SAYCE
@ Dingwalls, London. 18/10/09
This rescheduled first London appearance was attended by around 150 – a reasonable crowd for a Sunday evening to see someone relatively unknown in the UK. With Ryan MacMillan on drums and a particularly energetic Joel Gottschalk on bass providing a solid foundation for Sayce to showcase his extrovert playing, Sayce has a fine power trio. Opening with ‘One Foot In The Grave’, the first track on “Peace Machine” with its pounding bass line, it was clear Sayce is a high energy performer as the sweat glistened on his forehead. By the end of the second song, ‘Powerful Thing’, a funky number from the same album, one began to wonder how long Sayce could maintain this pace. ‘Over My Head’, a song contemplating suicide, provided an immediate answer and a brief respite from the volume that bludgeoned the ears and masked Sayce’s superb voice. Two numbers from Sayce’s next album, scheduled for release in April 2010, were warmly received: ‘Changes’, a tour de force with its lengthy sustain and the slow ballad ‘It’s Over Now’ with its waltz beat, promise good things to come. The Hendrix influenced Blues of ‘Dream Away’ gave Sayce a chance to show his superb voice and wide vocal range before the song morphed into the gritty electric Blues of ‘Angels Live Inside’. More Blues with ‘Slip Away’ saw Sayce make an excursion through the enraptured audience with his lengthy solo taking on an ethereal quality as he moved away from the stage and the PA stacks. The set drew to a close with Sayce’s version of Neil Young’s ‘Cinnamon Girl’ featuring the bass line from The Beatles ‘She’s So Heavy’ before the band returned for an encore of the SRV style Blues instrumental ‘Alchemy’ and the controlled chaos of ‘All I Want’. Using the lighting rig on the fretboard and playing chords like his life depended on it, it’s no wonder Sayce’s ’63 Stratocaster looks battered and abused. There’s no doubting, however, that Sayce is a very talented guitarist, singer and entertainer with the “wow factor” by the bucketful.
Try to get to one of these gigs if you can.
Phil
I will on all counts Phil, thanks for that!!
Am a bit of a fleeting visitor here nowadays, but am trying to keep up...so much going on!!
Will definitely be at the Robin 2 in May. Needless to say that Peace Machine has been ordered.
Paul
Got my London ticket a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait to see this guy again , new cd new show and hopefully the same band
I'll also mention that young Dutch guitarist Stefan Schill is to support Sayce on his UK tour. Like Sauce and Joe he is signed to Provogue Records and has just recorded his debut album:

Sounds like he's worth getting there early to see too! I'll be at the King Tuts gig!

Looks good Duncan - thanks for posting.
Is it just me, or do you see shades of a young Aynsley Lister in that video?
I should be seeing Philip Sayce at the Robin 2 - so an early start is on the cards I think.
Ian
we should be at the Robin 2 too
