Topic: New Les Paul Day

Heys Guys

Just thought id post this here for anyone interested. Its always nice to see pics of new Les Pauls anyway i think smile

I just got this the other day. Its 1958 Reissue (R8)

Ive owned a few LPs in the past but this is by far the best. Thick 58 neck profile. Huge LP tone and a great grain on it. I play a lot of the more rock stuff like Thin Lizzy so it should be perfectly suited for that (as well as some JB stuff on the side cool)

I've only got to play it through my Axe-Fx so far so im looking forward to plugging it into the Marshall come the weekend

Edit: Just noticed you cant post the images in the thread

Nope- just tried it- still asking for pw.

BTW- the R8 is a killer set up. Beefy necks are where it's at.

FYI- I got to demo WCR's prototype LP and Strat @ NAMM. Both were great but the LP was stunning. Of course you can get any one of his killer pups to put it.

Id love to go a NAMM show. There must be amazing gear there. I didnt know there was a WCR LP coming out. Are there any pics floating around the net ? Hopefully they wont be as hard to post as mine big_smile

No doubt- NAMM is fun but the main show is kind of a waste- The real goodness is after hours or in the VIP rooms where you can actually hear what you're doing and talk in depth with the builders. The LA/NY Amp Show are waaaaay  better though agreeably focused on boutique, high end amps.

NAMM is gnarly about volume and folks can't explore any of the real value and volume of so much. It's clearly for retailers to view and get overviews on that year's upcoming lines.

WCR- No- no pics. He didn't even have them in the open show. It was invite only, Jim did Video a few of us playing his Axes and putting them through their paces so that will pop up somewhere. The wait list will be long I suspect but worth it. Well priced too.

Re: New Les Paul Day

Its a great looking LP.  I love wood grain and a lot of 58' reissues don't seem to have lots of that big grain look.  ENJOY!

Re: New Les Paul Day

Very Nice!... Does your new '58 have the smaller frets ?
I believe the 59' started the medium jumbo, or larger fret style.....???
My 89' LP has the small frets, & I believe it is from the ''Heritage''era, modeled after the 1958 specs. Gibson returned to producing period accurate Les Pauls around 1987-1988 to rejuvenate sales, and or to improove on their mistakes...??? Perhaps someoen else here as more knowledge on this....I may be wrong. Thanks
I like the case as well. Love the woodgrain. It really draws the eye in and around the body. Good Job & enjoy!
