Re: The NFL - National Football League

Yesterday, it took Manning about a quarter and a half to figure out the Jets defensive scheme which, by the way is one of the best in the league.  Once he did so, Peyton cut through them with the precision of a beverly hills plastic surgeon.

I will be pulling for, and screaming for, the Saints to win (I feel sorry for the other folks who have to ride in the car with me that day), but when it all comes down to putting your money where your mouth is, my wallet would have to be for the colts to win and cover the spread.

As to over/under.  I suspect that 56 will go up into the mid to high 60's and it wouldn't surpirse me to see it hit 70.

I will set the Tivo to record...just in case the Saints pull the miracle.

Man, I love football!

Yeah right, Jdawg. roll Like nobody's ever said, 'hey, the key is to stop Peyton passing...' big_smile Not much success so far, huh?

The Jets kept him 'quiet' for almost a half, but once Manning started firing on all cylinders you knew the game was up for them. He really is an awesome passing machine with a wonderful football brain, who is now coming very close to threatening Marino's position as my all time favorite QB.

I completely understand why lots of neutrals will be rooting for the Saints and I will certainly not be distraught if they win, but due to family ties I really am obliged to stick with the Colts.

Finally, since US gambling odds have always been a mystery to me, what does this mean in plain English - "The over/under started @ 56"

True G Dawg, it's a mighty big "IF", but say they come up with a scheme that works the Colts don't have a run game they can rely on. Heaven forbid it should happen, but on any given play an injury can occur. Where would the Colts be if Peyton went down?

Ahh gambling odds! The Super Bowl is the biggest single day wagering event annually. The 4 & 1/2 point spread favoring the Colts simply means the Colts have to win by 5 points or more. You could take the Saints and still win the bet if the Colts won by 4 points or less. The over/under as mentioned is the total points scored by both teams. Should you hit the number exactly on 56 the house wins(a tie is like kissing your sister LOL). You would have to pick 55 or less to win the under and 57 or more to win the over. OK then G Dawg PLACE YOUR BETS!!!!  Buena Suerte Amigos!!!!

Re: The NFL - National Football League

I will have to agree with RockFarmer. My heart is with the Saints but the Colts will most likely win and cover the spread. Both have pretty good defenses so my inclination is to take the under. Manning is just too good. He was in cruise control in the 2nd half.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

Well, if the Saints can get that high powered offense revved up, they can give the Colts a game. Ain't no guarantees in sports. Just look back to the Giants and the Pats...nobody outside of NY thought the Giants had a chance.

Hey, Fuzzy must be close to having a heart attack. This game is a dandy. And still a half to go!

you can have the Jets and I will take the Colts.  I love Peyton.

Never took the Colts. No love lost there from Chargers fans either.

By the way, I was thinkin', if moral victories counted, The Chargers would have 3 rings too! cool

Looks like Manning is in control now.
Rick

No to your Chargers theory.

And I said I would take the Colts, not you were taking the Colts.

Well I gotta admit you lead the forum league in spitefulness hands down. The color analogy is cute and I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard that one. Browns fans are a tough lot having seen good times and bad, but what team hasn't? I'm down with the Saints cuz no franchise has seen more misery than them not to mention what the people of New Orleans have endured since Katrina. Geez the Haitians got more help from our government quicker than they did in the "Big Easy". Don't stop dishin' it out, it keeps me grounded.

You always bring up my team, if you love your Cleveland Browns then why don't you bring up your own team?  You bring up my team a lot more than you ever bring up the Browns.
It's okay for you to support your own team.  You got to admit you like to start bashing on my team more than you like supporting your own team.  I don't need to bash on your Browns, I am more interested in the Raiders and what is happening with them.

Why don't you talk about your Mike Holgram aquisition?  What importance do you feel he has for your team?  I don't know to much about that so you could be informative on what that means.

You might say the jury is out regarding exactly what Holmgrens arrival will mean. I get weekly updates from BABB(Bay Area Browns Backers) and all they've reported is Holmgren has a lot of evaluating homework on his hands before any decisions will be made. Topping the list of questions is whether either Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn will remain as QB. More shall be revealed. The Browns have the 7th pick in the draft which could have been higher if they hadn't gone on a 4 game winning streak to end the season. It's not rocket science that they need more help on the "O" line.

Woof Woof........Mroooow. lol Long suffering Raiders and Browns fans, hoping for a resurgence. Not next year! tongue

On a lighter note, nice to see our current bad boy Vincent Jackson show his skills in the intramural yesterday. He stated the highlight for him was playing special teams and getting to make his first tackle in years. Local fans think his police blotter is getting a bit long. MADD has a strong presence. It was amusing to see Rivers on the injury list, then find out the injury was his wife's looming birth of their child. (Guess there was no entry for "pending injury????") lol

My Chargers may fail at the end but at least they get there to have a shot. I don't know what is worse. Seeing your team never have a shot or seeing the blown shot through the vagaries of fate, blown calls or criminal stupidity. sad

Money has to follow the old pro. I think it will be close, probably a last possession win, with field goal kicks the difference.
