Topic: Gigliotti GTV

Just lurked on Patricks site and found this.
http://www.gigliottiguitars.com/gtv.html

Looks amazing to me and this strange curved frets would be
interesting to try out. You can order it with regular a fretboard as well.
I wonder how much it would be?

Did I mention it looks amazing..? big_smile

Alex-
I love that guitar! I was following the production of it ( search worlds wildest guitar on YouTube) pretty closely. That one has tv jones pickups, and something about the frets are measured properly so that you always have a true tuning or something like that. I can't remember exactly, but I know steve vai uses them.

More on the fret system here, guys.

Re: Gigliotti GTV

Hey guys-

just got an email back from Patrick. The gtv 4 pickup model is $4,800. I actually thought it would be a lot more expensive. There are R9's that are being sold for more than that...

Thanks,
Logan

Yeah, I tried to keep up with all that too... Seems like an okay guitar,, but I'm just thinking it's a bit 'much'. And as for the Vai idea on the frets,, it seems kinda intuitive,, but I just personally think that it's taking it too far, after all: Who actually endorses it all the time? Not even Vai has it all the time, I just find the idea kinda bull hmm... Downside to the guitar,, but other than that (and costs! AHH), I would find it a pretty cool axe smile

Its amazing. Fantastic. Of course it looks a bit crazy... lol tongue
If you go to gigliottiguitars.com there's not only the GTV at the left but at the right bottom corner there's also a link to some sound demos, tech specification, production partners etc.
I had to ask Patrick for that link - when there are half a dozen great looking guitars I'm so dazzled that I'm not able to spot such a small link lol

Re: Gigliotti GTV

How do you bend the strings with those squiggly frets? What happens if you bend into a squiggle? (Please forgive the overly technical jargon).

Re: Gigliotti GTV

I'd like to hear it.  The thing sure is ugly with that fretboard. and 4 pu's? Is 3 not enough anymore? sheesh!

This whole fret thing has been done before too: Ralph Novak Fanned Fret guitars

Novak's approach looks like it makes more musical sense.

Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: Gigliotti GTV

Nic-

there are video clips on the mini site. With the 4 pickups it gives you a bunch of different possibilities. I think that they were going for something crazy which is why they did the fretboard like that and the 4pups
