Topic: Speaker configuration w EV's

I figured Joe or someone would be easily able to answer this.  I have a Fuchs 50 watt ODS w a Fuchs 2 x 12 cabinet loaded with Eminence Patriots.  I'm thinking about swapping one of them out for a EV12S.  First of all, what's the tonal difference between a EV12L and a EV12S besides power rating?  And, would the Eminence be a good match for the EV?

Thanks!

Re: Speaker configuration w EV's

I can't answer your question, but I run a 50-watt Ceriatone OTS through two (2) 1x12 cabs - one has a EVM12L Classic (Great Cleans) and other cab is a Two Rock Sig Cab loaded with a TR12-65R speaker (gets a little dirtier and midrange).  These two come togther very nicely for me, providing my tone coupled with guitar, pedals and cables I use.

I think L(ong) and S(hort) stand for the throw of the speaker.  The L is going to spead sound more sound while the S is going to be more of a straight/head on sound distribution.  I think, not 100% on this, but thats how I understood it.

PS - I'd go with 2 EV's.  That's what I have with mine... Never cared for anything Eminence.

Re: Speaker configuration w EV's

EV's compared to Eminence from what I heard (although cannot confirm) allow more the amplifier to shape your guitar tone. Eminence speakers shape the tone a little bit more towards whatever model of speaker you get, whereas EVs are more transparent.
