Topic: Speakers NDY
Hey guys,
I have a 2555 jubilee head along with a strat and was curious to what speakers Joe was using during the NDY-era?
I know he has ev12ls now, but I'm not sure he used them back then, could they have been G12T-75s?

Not sure what celestions he used but he complained of them blowing up a lot LOL , Based on my experience the g12 75ts are not a good match for the jubilee , I have tried most and apart from EVMS (OBVIOUSLY) the G12M greenbacks are my favorite for the jubilee. G12 H is also good but much darker.

I listened to this, and on the lead tones I liked the sound of the EV12ls a lot, very tight, clear bass. I also liked the G12H and the greenback. The greenback gives it a nice marshally boxy tone, the ev's are a bit clearer...

This was what I found, greenbacks have a nice syrupy marshall sound but not as articulate as the EVM 12L .
THE YOU TUBE comparisons are very helpful but remember that you are only hearing it with one amplifier , some speakers that sound good with one amp will sound crap in another amp ie, V30 in an dumble type amp is crappy IMHO

Most of the time they were greenback 25 watt Celestion speakers. Vintage 30's as well. I went through many boxes over the years. I got away with the greenbacks because I used just two heads and one cabinet per head.
