Topic: Buckethead Signature Les Paul. I'm Serious.

$2500 for a white Les Paul with 24 frets and red arcade buttons on it.

Why does Buckethead get his own LP? He's not even a loyal LP user? I thought LesPaul sig. models for a only granted towards a select few? Not like strat sig's where there's dozens and dozens of them.

I don't know what to think of this.

For those of you who don't know who Buckethead is...
http://app1.kuhf.org/images/content/pho … ethead.jpg

He is a "half alien, half robot" who wears a rain coat. He harnesses his energy from 'all the souls of the dead chickens' in history (which I can guess counts into the quadrillions). This guy even freaked out Ozzy (which says a lot):

Ozzy: "I tried out that Buckethead guy. I met with him and asked him to work with me but only if he got rid of the @#$%^^&# bucket. So I came back a bit later and he's wearing this green @#$%^^&# Martian's-hat thing. I said, 'Look, just be yourself!' He told me his name was Brian, so I said that's what I'd call him. He says, 'No one calls me Brian except my mother.' So I said, 'Pretend I'm your mum then!' I haven't even got out of the room and I'm already playing @#$%^^&# mind games with the guy. What happens if one day he's gone and there's a note saying, 'I've been beamed up?' [Laughs] Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. He plays like a motherf*cker!"

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul. I'm Serious.

it has a bit more than just a white LP with 24 frets.

it has a bigger scale than a regular LP, it has a 27" scale, and the body of it is bigger than a regular LP, its also a chambered body, in which i think it sets it away from a regular LP,  besides wiring and mods on it, i think its a really cool LP, alot different from a regular LP and many other artist Sig guitars.

its all a matter of principle...

Ya know, I think the look on Keifer's face almost says, "Yeah I know I shouldn't have my own Gibson custom model." lol tongue

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul. I'm Serious.

Kiefer may be a thoroughly nice guy, like his guitars more than the average man and might be pretty good at the ol' guitar.
It's just that Gibson are like a headless chicken - totally useless.

Whoever is at the top making these decisions and ticking these boxes - you're a guaranteed jerk in a suit...nothing else.
JB is 100% right about his guitars. They should be played.

I'll take one of those wastes of mahogany, like the backwards Flying V etc and clout those Gibson execs over the head with it. Fools.

Signature guitars mean nothing to me, only if they are good guitars in their own right. Examples are JB's, Page's (though I can't get near that price) and Admiral Perry's. Bad examples are Neal Schon's (obvious), Tom Delonge and Billy Joe (over-priced and no one really cares - the only people that do are the teens who cannot afford them).

I could rant for days.

Thankfully I have my L.P Standard (non-messed, non-chambered) with replaced pickups - and it is a good guitar. You couldn't give away one of those new ones to me.

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul. I'm Serious.

So let me get this straight,

ALL I have to do, is get into a couple movies, a TV show, claim I am an avid musician, guitar collector, and "producer."... and I can have MY own Gibson signature model?

Let us not forget Kris Kristofferson's acoustic either! roll

I heard Richard Gere has a huge collection of Les Pauls... so watch out!

lol classic.......

I was hoping that one day I'd be the owner of a decent LP, they just seem to be totally climbing out of any reasonable price range but at the same time losing exactly what makes them a LP. I've played far too many dud's to actually wanna keep trying non customshop LP's too. Hopefully one day I'll pick one up second hand or somet that ticks all the boxes....

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul. I'm Serious.

The WORST thing is...Slash has ANOTHER series of Les Pauls coming out!

Well the new amp is not needed...at least I hope it's a good amp in its own right.

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul. I'm Serious.

Buckethead may be weird, freakishly tall, and play a strange guitar, but he's a killer player.  He is truely unique and has a very unique approach to the instrument.  I think it's pretty cool!  BTW to all the Buckethead doubters check out this tune:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8akmP6Sjv2o

Incredible melody, tone, and use of effects.  I usually cringe when somebody uses a digitech whammy pedal but this is so cool!

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul. I'm Serious.

I am really starting to like allot of this guys music, i don’t care for the shred. I will take a trip to the library tomorrow and checkout some of his cd’s & dvd's.

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul. I'm Serious.

I saw Buckethead live for half of his show.  Mom said if I don't have anything nice to say....

Oh wait...he was pretty good with numchucks and the robot dance.

Gibson, Gibson, Gibson roll

Where the hell does one get a black-backed gold top anyway?

Re: Buckethead Signature Les Paul. I'm Serious.

I probably shouldn't bash him. I hope it didn't sound like that. He does SHRED.
I just believe that Les Paul signature models should be a more exclusive club.

Well Nic, I don't know about all of that, but if "good guys that are really smart and can play guitar" got Gibson signature models, then you'd be right at the front of this list! Heck, I might even consider buying one, if it wasn't too expensive. wink

Let me play out this fantasy for a second...

My LesPaul would have a belly route, or at least carved on both sides, not just the front... like a violin. Volute on the back of the neck, and slim (early 70's) neck contour... to replicate my '73 custom. No chambers, just heavy. the neck joint will be hand contoured (instead of blocky and squared off). binding front and back.

Ebony fretboard, Mother of Pearl Block inlays, and Les Paul custom headstock.

Burstbucker II in bridge and neck, pickup covers will have Gibson embossed in to the covers (to replicate my black '73 custom). http://www.guitaravenue.com/images/phot … ack-72.jpg

Schaller StrapLocks. Grover tuners. Graphtec nuts and saddles. TonePros locking bridge and tailpiece. Creme pickguard, rings, and other hardware again to match my '73 Custom.

The only revealing stat on the guitar that it's my sig model and not a custom shop would be the NPB serial #. Color options would be that of a standard... white, gold, cherry sunb., vintage sunb, or black.

Egads this sounds expensive! I'd like to sell it for around $2000, but all the stats of the above are sounding more like $4000. sad
