TC electronics is nice but expensive. I desire true bypass and analog but im willing to go out on a limb if you are convincing enough lol (It MUST be stereo!). Im currently using a CE-3. I hate it because it has a "fuzz rate" sound when its engaged and im not playing it. Is this normal for chorus pedals (only chorus I have owned)? Any advice appreciated thank you all.

Chorus pedals can add a little noise, but nothing really dramatic. Here are some alternatives to the TC SCF:
1) Delta Lab Chorus-it's cheap, sounds good, and it's stereo! It's digital I believe but I was surprised at the sound quality. I liked it a lot better than the EH Small Clone I once owned.
2) Carl Martin XII Chorus-it's not a whole lot cheaper, but CM makes some very nice stuff.
3) Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus-I'm not sure if it's stereo or not, but it sounds pretty good.
4) Boss Chorus Ensemble or Chorus-just great all around chorus pedals at a good price.
5) Red Witch Chorus- a lot of tone snobs rave about this pedal. I don't know I've never played it and it's probably expensive.
6) Fulltone Choralflange-awesome sounding chorus and flanger. Probably the closest thing to the SCF you can buy. You can find some good deals on a used one!
I use the EWS Arion Chorus. Its great and cuts through.

Boss Super Chorus did me fine once...
thanks for the input, i'll do some research on those. Im leery of any boss chorus just because mine is a boss, granted an old one. Any noise issues with your super chorus? I guess im more concerned with the damn quietness of the pedal as opposed to the actual effect lol. You guys are great thanks for the input.

Not that I remember...
I just can think now that it might not have been subtle enough for me on some settings, nor liquidy enough for some crazy effects...plus it didn't have true bypass.
I went for a bloody pricey Maxon - kept the sound tight with the subtle part....and smooth and deep on fuller settings.
Still, I didn't think I needed it in the end... 
If we didn't buy stuff we didn't need we wouldn't be real guitar players LOL.
I'm really happy with this set up.
Analogman Bi chorus, connected to the Xotic X Blender. ( see link below )
This way i get 4 levels of chorus.
2 settings on the chorus direct to amp and a lower mixed version of each via the X Blender.
I prefer a subtle chorus added to distortion and lead playing but a more pronounced chorus for playing clean arpeggiated stuff.
hopefully if my other thread yields any leslie tips, i'll get that too and be a very happy chappy indeed

we have the same problem. i too have a CE-3. it's very noisy. the hiss level is quite high, even my drive pedals don't hiss as much as this. also you can hear the clock noise for the effect rate. they're mod-able, to reduce noise and make it deeper sounding, but i'd probably end up soldering my finger to something:)
i'm thinking of trying the modtone aqua chorus, seems nice and sounds good for the money. though i've just got a guyatone phase shifter that's taking up the modulation space on my board, so might be a while till i get the modtone.
The biggest problem with the TC is that it's mains powered ONLY.
That means it doesn't sit nicely on my board.
It's also got a very slight but nasty flange tone all the time ( I had the same issue with the Fulltone Choralflange )
I think the seperate effects bleed slightly into each other rather than being totally seperate.
An analog pedal should do one thing only and do it very well.
YES HALESIE thats exactly whats going on, what a relief to know that its just with that pedal. Thanks to you all, I now have plenty of options to look into. I like the idea of multiple chorus sounds available quickly, If I have to bend over and fiddle with knobs during a performance, FORGET IT.
Try the Visual Sound Chorus. Great stompbox.
I like my Analogman Mini chorus. Great chorus sound, and nice and small!
Analogman chorus. Pricey but the tone is outstanding clean or with overdrive.
