The Seahawks let Mike Holmgren get away in favor of Jim Mora, and now Mora's out.
Now the Seahawks have hired Pete Carroll from USC as their new head coach. While he's had success at the collegiate level, Carroll's pro career has been less than stellar.
He was one-and-done as the NY Jets coach with a record of 6-10. At New England he inherited a Super Bowl team and went 10-6, followed by 9-7 and then 8-8 when he was fired.
With the likes of Bill Cowher (who would have been my first choice), Tony Dungy and Jon "Chucky" Gruden all available - and all Super Bowl coaches - I'm less than pleased about this hire.
Well, at least coming from USC we'll have a coach with experience dealing with highly paid players.
Well Stu, good luck with Pete Carroll. Don't believe his departure from SC was solely to try his hand in the NFL (In Pete's case that's Not For Long). Like rats on a sinking ship, Carroll, the A.D. and I heard the Univ. president are all jumping ship with a 2 year investigation into athletic program inpropriaties about to blow up on the University of Spoiled Children. Keep your eyes on ESPN for more to break on this story. Another side bar to him coming to the Emerald City is the next meeting between Seattle & Baltimore. John Harbaugh, head coach of the Ravens is the brother of Jim Harbaugh, head coach at Stanford. After Stanford ran up the score on SC this year, not like SC ever did that, Pete C. was overheard at midfield at the end of the game berating Harbaugh saying, "What's your problem!", Harbaugh came right back at him with, "What's YOUR problem!!!". We'll see how thick the Harbaugh family blood runs next season. I love this game!
