Thanks for sharing that link, I had never read that before. I'm sorry I missed out on knowing Garth better, what a superb human being!! Joe's music has had a magical way of bringing great people together.
And long live CRADLE ROCK!!!! Love that song...I'll never play Cradle Rock again and not think of Garth!

I echo all of Angela's words above as I also missed that topic at the time.
I've had a difficult time trying to organize my thoughts since my original post yesterday morning. I could talk about Garth's enthusiastic contributions to our early Street Team efforts and the Fan Website, his warm and friendly nature, his endearing sense of humor, or how he turned me on to some great music including David Gogo and The Gentelmens Blues Club.
The last email I received from <G> was on December 7th, 2009. I had written to him about Joanne Shaw Taylor coming to Omaha on February 4th, and told him I wanted pictures and a review. In the haste of my email I wrote February 4th, 2110 as the date she was coming, instead of 2010. Garth replied,
"2/4/2110?? **## Stu, I don't expect to last through 2010. WILL be a miracle if I do though. Yes, I've heard a few of her boots, but had no idea...will have to go...pics for Stu too!"
I thought he was just joking around as usual. I didn't have a clue.
Who Garth was, and what he was about, might best illustrated by the following thread from May of this year. It speaks for itself, and tells you more about <G> than I ever could.
I remember this post, but missed the end where Ben responded and got the autographed copy.
I didn't know Garth, but have read all of this thread and am very touched and sad about his passing. This thread is a very fitting tribute.

Being a very new member of the forum, I didn't know <G> at all, but from all of the messages left on Facebook and here, and reading through some of his threads, I can appreciate how loved he was. With that in mind, please accept my heartfelt sympathy to all of those who knew him. I truly am sorry.

RIP <G>, I leave town for 4 days and return to this sad news. Cancer is too much a part of my life and it hurts to hear a fellow patient lost the good fight. Go in peace <G>.

Such a sad loss. I remember exchanging emails and CD's with Garth, going all the way back to 2002/2003.. RIP Garth.

I never got to meet or really speak with <G> but I know, from his posts, that he was a wonderful guy. My prayers go out to his family.
I can't say I knew Garth but I sure wish I had. Sounds like he was a wonderful person, a true music fan with a caring and sharing heart of gold.
My condolences to his family and to everyone here who knew him.

This hurts my heart. What a wonderful spirit and true music man. As I read all the prior posts I realized how much good music I also got turned onto via the Garth connection. People have posted in this thread that don't post often It is a true testament to what a special member of this community <G> was. I comfort myself by holding onto the thought that there is a special corner in the afterlife devoted to Blues/Rock. I'm also sure Harry B. has it all under control. And, I have no doubt, Garth tapped an angel on the shoulder... My deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and this community. To all of you who were a part of his final months, I have no doubt you gave him many smiles. Cathy

Yeah that would be great. Problem is only that there is no cure in most cases and my qualified guess would be there never will be. A few less malignant forms of cancer can be cured. But most of the cancer forms can`t or only with the cost of quite a big loss in quality of live due to several reasons. And the worst of all incidence of most cancer forms is rising and absolutely not only in the older population. Now you could ask why but that is another quite long story.
All in all cancer is about the worst disease out there with often very limited treatment options and limited avoidance strategies (don`t smoke- thats not a good habit). So live your lives while you can, be a helpful and kind person... carpe diem.
