Topic: Video and sound quality

OK, so I guess I'll have to learn how to do the youtube thing at last roll
Tried recording with my Canon FS200 but the sound was fizzy and poor, even when playing on low volume.

Do you guys use an external mic or what. Some of the demos here sound really good...

Any tip for what mic to buy (cheapest decent one)?

YEAH VIM
I have the same problem . my camera mic sucks. I have tried recordings in the past and they do not reflect the  true sound of my rig, so I gave up.  I think some of the better quality camcorders may have better Mics but I dont have one. what I do have is a Zoom H2 recorder which makes a pretty good recording but it only records sound. !!

Re: Video and sound quality

Maybe you could use a standalone and a camera. You get them recording at PRECISELY the same time and I'd imagine they'd sync up. Pop that video into a movie editor, remove the video's sound and drop in the sound you recorded with that Multi-track recorder or what have you. Pray you started recording at the same times, and presto, there you go (I have no experience, but theoretically I'd think it should work)

Re: Video and sound quality

i do recordings with my Canon Power shot SD790 IS, its a a camera that i bought for 200$. and its not even a camcorder.

what some times help is the placement of the camera and the amp, and how close you tend to sit near the camera. but i dont have any recording equipment at all and i think the results i get with this power shot camera are great. i also tend to set up the camera on a tripod.

here have a look at some of my vids, mostly the latest uploads, a few of my uploads where done with a webcam, and when uploaded to youtube they became out of sync on sound and video

its all a matter of principle...
