Hi JBSRV
Yes. Sony Center state of the art digital theater last night in Berlin. AWESOME FLICK, especially for the scifi enthusiasts. 3D is incredible. Rewrites the way movies can be produced although at huge cost. The benchmark has been set for the future. The credit lines run on and on with a host of digital and IT specialists. Rick

edit. I'm pretty sure I read the novel this was based on a few years ago but CRS has erased that memory.

Re: Avatar

Wow!

We just went to see this last night (in 3D).
Have to say I wasn't sure what to expect as the critics have not been kind, but I was just blown away.
Mrs Icon is already talking about going back for a second shot!

Re: Avatar

Went to see it too in 3D, First time (like a JB Show) It's Jaw Dropping Entertainment, and the first time in years that the ticket price was worthy.
Seemed like you was in another world not at a cinema, You Must Not Miss This Film
There has never been a movie like it and is indeed a benchmark of the way films will be in the future

Brilliant

I would advise a firm placement of both buttocks on the seat, mouth already slightly open in preparation for the gob-smacking to follow. big_smile

Enjoy, and be sure to report!

Explain please. Are not all showings in 3D? And how does it work, do they give you little plastic glasses like in the old days or is it the film itself?

There are 2 versions of the film one is in normal 2D the best version with glasses is in 3D

Re: Avatar

This was something that moved me...beyond a film.
I have never been so amazed or so happy in watching something at the cinema before.
The faces had so much feeling, the music was wonderful (James Horner again) - everything...

I just wanted to stay in that world.

Re: Avatar

Saw it today in an imax theater. A very visually stunnung film. I loved it, kinda like Dances With Wolves in outer-space.

Yeah it was great

I can only tell you that we ended up fairly close to the front and well left of centre as we arrived a bit late, and when you get the glasses on it just didn't matter. I normally hate being that close to the screen, but we just seemed to get drawn right into this other universe - it's crazy! cool

Enjoy!

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but living so close to Hollywood, I am so sick of the anti-war, environmentalist agendas these hollywood types are trying to shove down my throat.

I'm sure it's a well made movie, but I cannot, and will not, support James Camerons political agendas in his films.

Re: Avatar

Best Fantasy movie since Lord of the Rings in my eyes ... I´m not saying it´s AS good as LOTR, but it´s still an amazing, touching and incredibly well done movie. You could stop the movie at almost any time and hang the picture on your wall,  it´s just so beautiful.

I don´t see anything wrong with the "agenda" either - what was it that annoyed you about it Rockfarmer? Just the general habit of having an "agenda" (any kind of agenda) or the strong anti-war/environmental content in this particular case?

I totally recommend seeing it, as Michael says - it´s well worth the price. I thought the 3D looked a little artificial during the army base scenes, but worked great for all the animated outside scenes ... jaw-dropping at times.
