Topic: Does Joe ever use the Od channel of his Jubilee ?

Does Joe ever use the Od channel of his Jubilee ? Or does the fuzz go to the jubilee or only to the other amp(s) ?

Any idea ?

Yes JOE only uses the OD channel of his jubilee which is the only amp thats always on!
think he uses tubescreamer for JB CAT5 OR BOGNER.

The fuzz goes only into ONE of the other amps! I think it goes into the Cat5/Bogner while the good ol' tubescreamer can be used with all amps.

Here you can see his LAST YEARS setup - I made it last year, there are some small mistakes in it but it's mostly right!

Joe is able to turn the OD channel of the Jubilee clean using the volume knob(s) of his guitars.

If I'm not mistaken didn't Joe use to run his Jubilees on the clean channel, you know, back in his Strat days?  I was always under the impression that is how he got that really pure clean sounding gain back then.  Now it definately sounds like the overdrive section of a preamped Marshall, which is much better suited for Gibsons and more of a rocking sound.  I'm guessing even now he doesn't use that much gain as it's mostly the power amp section of his Jubilee screaming for it's life!

I dont think Joe has ever used the clean channel even in the strat day . but I could be wrong

JOE would need to chime in here to put this long standing rumour to rest. in my experience the clean channel is a hard channel to get a good sound from . where as the OD channel is where this amp comes alive.

I agree that the OD channel is what the amp is known for, but keep in mind that Joe cranks these amps like few people ever would/could.  The clean channel will distort and rather nicely at that when cranked up.  Guess it's hard to speculate unless the man himself chimes in. tongue

When I had a strat I never loved the OD Channel and the Jub I would always end up using the clean or the rythem Clip and get a nice Hendrixy sound. Now the LP sound great on the OD channel of the Jub.

Thanks for the info everyone ! Would be nice if Joe could chime in to clear the the thing. Jubilee: with or without OD? Fuzz face: into what amp(s) ?

I would like to ask for the Jubilee players, where do You set Your tone and presence pots ?

Here is a clip of my diy jubilee (horribly long-5 and half minutes of noodling-was just trying to listen the amp, not the playing.) Sound chain is Gibson ES-339 to amp + Spring King on the loop. Recorded with old Zoom hand held recorder.

My guess is that he's running the overdrive channel of the Jubilee, but with a lot less gain than most.  He gets the majority of his tone from the power amp working really hard.  As far as I know, he has a TS808RI, Gas Pedals Carb, and/or Way Huge Pork Loin in front of all the amps for a gain boost.  He places these before his amp switching so that all of the amps are affected.  The Fuzz Face is from George Tripps (Jim Dunlop and Way Huge Pedals creator/guru) and is fed into the Category 5 JB100/Bogner XTC only...that's about it.  The rest is his fingers I'm afraid!

BTW anyone who cares to know Joe's DSL100 settings are working REALLY well for me, especially with a TS808 in front like he recommended.  It has halted my Jubilee GAS for now and I feel that the DSL is really a great option for those people after the Joe B tone w/o the Jubilee.  For those of you with a real Silver Anniversary 2555 well...you know where you can stuff it!! tongue tongue tongue  I envy you!
