Topic: First Tube Amp..

hey Bonamassa fans,
I am looking into my very first tube amp and I am considering a marshall DSL 401 (40 watt combo, 1x12). Do you guys think it would be a great first tube amp? also another problem is that I like to play fairly loud (current amp is a VOX valvetronix 100 watt).. would the 40 watts of tube power be enough for small gigs etc?

PS: The tone I'm after is more of a classic rock type sound.. I guess no more distortion than what Bonamassa uses

Thanx guys,

Mike

Re: First Tube Amp..

Mike my friend, in my honest opinion, I would without a doubt highly recomend the DSL 401 smile. I bought one back in October, and I have to admit, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. It does although 'settle in' after several weeks, but that's not too noticeable if you play on it enough, which Im sure you will, as it is incredible. It surprisingly reliable for achieving Joe-like tones, and yeah, has awesome tone, and plently of volume. (When micing up, also sounds GREAT with a plexi-glass baffle in front of it to help you drive it to its masses!)

Re: First Tube Amp..

+1 on the DSL 401. Great amp!
I also like the VM a lot, and there's a ton of other amps that do a great job for the same price.
Blackstar series one 45 e.g.
