I ranked these on the basis of the amount of fun and enjoyment I got out of them at the time, on the day.
1. Carl Carlton and the Songdogs - This was my best gig of the year, no question
2. JoeB - He was brilliant, but I knew he would be and he didn't disappoint which says a lot. Why not Nr.#? because with Carl Carlton I expected nothing and got sooooo much more, like the first time I saw Joe!
3. Thunder - Not the best I've seen them, but the last time I will sadly, so special.
4. Derek Trucks - Quite unbelievably entrancing. I'm a fan. Nice bloke too.
5. Ian Parker - Stunning, simply stunning. Vocal delivery the best of the year. Great great songwriting.
6. Aynsley Lister - The 4th of my first timers. Another brilliant surprise
7. Ritchie Kotzen - knew the reputation, does he deliver? Oh yes. He should be a superstar but life ain't like that always
8. JST - She will be a superstar, maybe. Loved her to bits
9. Oli Brown - Mr. Charisma with great chops. Looking forward to seeing him again in 2010
10. Wishbone Ash - As long as they play I'll watch. I've followed them for nearly 40 years so they have both quality and quantity!
and the worst?
Metallica - They are a top live act so should feature above probably and actually I think Metallica were pretty good, but sadly (for me) were so loud it was just a noise. They are a band I'll watch on DVD in future. Still, it was an experience, and expensive one, but an experience none the less
