Well said, Roy. The sad thing -again in Copenhagen- is that identification with (personal or collective) ego is much stronger than a sense of responsibitity for the whole. Which is ignorant, even in terms of egoism. Nonetheless it seems to be a constant human pattern, and a growing pollution is the consequence.

Thanks Günter,

But just think of this. A couple of years ago we were having a broad based discussion at work about lots of things. One of the guys summed up everything in four little words exactly why things are the way they are. Those words were: "It's All About Money!"

Don't believe me? Let's face it, no matter what we discuss here; religion, politics, the environment, entertainment and so on, the bottom line to everything is it's all about MONEY. And why you ask? Money brings power, or as we say in here America, Money Talks! The more you have, the louder your voice.

When and if humans can do "What's Best" for "All Of Us" regardless of cost, then we'll have advanced beyond anything we could ever imagine. However, until that time comes, we'll keep going at the same suicidal pace, using up everything that dear Mother Earth gives us until she too has no more.

Roy

P.S. Damn, can you tell I had too much coffee this morning! wink

Of course your right Roy, just the other day, I was talking to my gardener... he said exactly the same as you.... IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!! And..You owe me £200 and i'll be on my way!!!  Thank you  smile

Re: Tiger Woods, any opinions?

Hi Guenter,

My take on the connection of the Italian PM and Tiger = High profile married men that are serial cheaters and the things they do and say in the aftermath, their personal lives are definitely pathetic.  I have a hard enough time understanding the truth in American politics, I don't really follow Italian politics, except for maybe Italy's legal system recently with the Knox trial, which is a frightening thought for American college students studying abroad and some of the dislike towards Americans.  It made me recall that movie from a while back, Midnight Express!

And, Roy, money is the root of much evil definitely.  One of my favorite lines from my father-in-law...if it doesn't make sense, money is behind it.  (like a bridge project that's 99% done for 25 years, but doesn't connect to anything...that's what I'm talking about....  big_smile)

I don´t think so. If you want to behave like a macho, it´s okay as long you stand for it. But being a hidden macho and playing the good  and repentant guy when you get unmasked - that´s only pathetic. (I´m not a Berlusconi fan.)

I would like to BAH too, but I don´t know about what or whom!!

It´s all about money. It´s nothing wrong with money: I wouldn´t mind to have some more. With money it is like with all other drugs: as long you can handle them, it´s okay. The problem comes with addiction, and addiction comes out of greed, and greed comes out of ignorance. So it´s all about consciousness.

Re: Tiger Woods, any opinions?

I'm pretty sure Timothy in King James Bible said:
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

A recent commentary on translation from The People's New Testament:
"6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil. Not the money itself, which if used as by a steward of God is a blessing, so much as the love of it. This greedy love is the source of every sin. Men murder, cheat, lie, rob, run saloons, gambling houses, brothels, all for the love of money. For love of money Judas sold his Master."

Re: Tiger Woods, any opinions?

There is another topic circling around Tiger that this thread hasn’t even touched on yet and that is a possible link to a Canadian doctor known for steroids. This is just one of the items that can be found about this topic: http://www.observer-reporter.com/or/loc … teigerwald

Unlike this writer, I still believe a person is innocent until proven guilty. However, I can tell you what I’ve observed myself. Dawn and I were fortunate enough to see Tiger in his very first professional golf tournament which was in Milwaukee. Even then, the number of people following this 21 year old young man was amazing. We positioned ourselves a hole ahead of the large crowd to watch him play a par 3 and we were also fortunate to be on the right side of the hole almost alone after the tournament officials closed the hole’s crossing ropes. After Tiger hit his shot onto the green he came right by Dawn and I and it was then that I was really surprised at what I saw. It wasn’t the Tiger that you see today, but a barely 6 foot (listed as 6 foot 1 inch), quite thin young man. Of course, knowing his reputation probably made my mind imagine him bigger than he really was, but still I thought to myself, Tiger is not a very big guy.

Well, fast forward 12 years and now you see a much different Tiger than the one I first saw. What I see now is a man much broader across the chest with large shoulders and arms that a blacksmith would be proud of. I understand that Tiger has one heck of a workout regime and his increase in size could be attributed to that and to the maturing process, but still he looks much different.

I for one, hope that this possible link to steroids is proven totally wrong and Golf can remain the one sport that hasn’t been plagued by this type of thing. Tiger won the 2008 U.S. Open playing on a leg he shouldn’t have even been walking on, much less playing Golf with. I hope his accomplishments on the course stand the test of time even though his image as been marred with his off the course actions.

I think you'll find, drugs can be found in sports that offer the greatest rewards! And the game of golf is not immune. Like you said before Roy, It's all about the money!

Re: Tiger Woods, any opinions?

Steroids or not, the guy does things with a golf club that has not been seen before. In fact, if he were found to be guilty of using steroids, I would consider his accomplishments on the golf courses all the more amazing. To be so mentally focused and on to be sinking 10 footers at Augusta with 'roid rage, that is quite impressive to me. wink

Wisdom indeed.  Look out for fools with tools.  For deep thinkers, if money is a tool and we all want to build a better world...

The get to doesn't work in the ghetto, no guaranty there you will get what you play for.
Bottom line, to use a financial term, is that Mr. & Mrs. Woods both got what they played for. hmm
