Topic: Seymour Duncan '59 vs DiMarzio 36th Anniversary P.A.F.

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has gotten a chance to compare both of these pickups. For the '58 Korina V project I'm working on now, I ordered the '59s,  but now im wondering if the DiMarzios would be better. All I really know about them is that they are based on the pickups out of Larry DiMarzio's '59 Les Paul.

Thanks,
Logan

I like the Duncan 59.  I have one in the lead spot of one of my guitars.  Very clear sounding.

Thanks Ben. I i think i'll stick with the '59s for the V and when i start the explorer project i'll go with the dimarzio's.

i've seen the video with larry's 59 lp.  that 59 is very resonant.  the new dimarzio sounds good in that video in comparison.  another pickup guy to check out is smits pickups.  he has a variety of winds.  mine has the good tones   cool

I thought the Seymour 59' in the neck was muddy in my Les Paul.  I had a RS Guitarworks volume kit on there and a JB in the Bridge.  The JB was nice but it didn't sound like a Les Paul.  I hated both pickups in that guitar and swapped them out for Pearly Gates.  Pearly Gates didn't sound Clear at all and for the money I think they are the worst pickups I've ever tried more mud the the 59'.  I Switched to 57' Classics and a Classic plus and got much better tones from that.  Thats what I have in it now and they have been in it the longest since I started swapping pickups out.
