Topic: Book on Tommy Bolin

Forget the title and author
check out Tommy's website
I guess this guy was pretty good
What do you guys recommend from him?

Re: Book on Tommy Bolin

Teaser was and still is his best  LP.
I bought the LP after I saw him perform in the Rolling Stones in Auckland New Zealand in 1976.

He was the best Stone!!!!!!!!!!Unique smooth style.

Andre could this have been 1975? I remember the Stones touring, at least here in the states every 3 years from '69 then '72, '75, '78, '81. That's not to say other countries may have been in different years. Do you remember what month by chance? Teaser is a classic and still stands the test of time. I have the eponymous Zephyr album from '69 which I bought the day after seeing them at The Fillmore West as an opening act. Tommy left way too soon.

Re: Book on Tommy Bolin

Could have been so J Dawg.
I travelled around for 10 months and was in New Zealand from about November 1975 till April 1976.
Don't remember the date. Maybe someone from this forum knows the exact date. You made me curious J D!!The Stones did an outdoor show in a stadium in Auckland,  I was just in front of the stage I remember and I came for Tommy because I never have been a big Stoned fan  but Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Allman Brothers etc. fan. GUITARS were and are my things. Never tried myself.
In that peride I saw J.J.Cale as well, he played in a theatre in Queenstreet. Only  time I saw him, would die for another show 35 years later. He never came to Holland as for as I know.

Have a nice Sunday. Andre Wittebroek

Re: Book on Tommy Bolin

he only has two solo albums.  then there are two more that are like rarities and outtakes and some of the songs are definitely better on those.  i am partial to teaser, but the only other person i know who has heard of him prefers private eyes.  i have them all and recommend getting them all.
