Topic: Blakroc

No this is not a misspelling of Joe's upcoming album. It is, what I believe to be a ground breaking new album centered around one of my favorite bands, The Black Keys. The album is a melting pot of blues, rock, and rap. I am not usually a fan of rap AT ALL, but I have to admit... this album is awesome! cool Take a look at one of the songs. This is called "What You Do To Me". I love Dan's erie voice and Nikki Wray's powerful chorus "In the mean time, in the mean time, they don't bother me" and then the rap provided by Jim Jones and Billy Danze. I have no idea what these artists do in their own careers (except Dan), but I think they fit well here.

Give it some time... I realize it may not appeal to you, but try to see what's happening here. I believe it's a great thing. Combining two completely different genres together helps us realize that the boundaries of music aren't as insurmountable as we like to believe. Putting rap with blues-rock made it easier to swallow for me and hopefully it does the same for you. I will still never call myself a fan of rap, but I stand by this album, check it out.

I should add that all the lyrics and beats were made up on the spot. You can check out the Blakroc website to look at the "making of" webisodes.
