Re: Stevie Ray Vaughan

Yep, that sure is a goodin' Michael. Here is one of my favorites; can it get any better than Stevie and Double Trouble in a small club in Canada? Oh, to have been there:

Re: Stevie Ray Vaughan

Remember I saw him the first time live on TV at Rockpalast at the Loreley.  I think it was in 1988. Never heard of him before.
He blew me away, I heard the first tones, ran to my put  Pioneer CT2121 cassetterecorder and taped the rest of the show from the German radio who broadcasted it, bad quality because I had to receive it with a roofantenna and the reception was bad, but I still have the cassette and I put it on Cd.
if you want a copy Michael, I can send you one!

He did a great version of Voodoo child too.
He is missed!

Re: Stevie Ray Vaughan

Yes, that version is just off the charts. The only one I like better is the 1989 ACL version. Some (including Joe) would argue his tone was not as great, but you can't argue with that playing.

Re: Stevie Ray Vaughan

Pretty awesome. SRV could lay it on deep.

Three years ago, I was at a blues festival and Buddy Guy was playing. About 2/3 through his set, he stopped  playing a tune, looked out at the audience and said "What's the matter? This guitar must be broken since you folks aren't all on your feet." A roady ran out, took old polka dot and handed him a fresh git. He then launched into an identical version of Voodoo Child, and proceeded to come down into the crowd and shred as he walked around. Got a picture of him with my wife at 3 feet.  Not SRV but good enough for us. Oh, and the crowd did get to their feet.  Rick

Re: Stevie Ray Vaughan

I've said it before that our JB had not moved me since I saw SRV.....1994 seems like yesterday, so sad....we cant live forever so I try and see the greats when I can......in my own opinion JBs Rockpalast is the greatest show ever recorded, then SRVs El Mocambo....hey I havent forgot the RAH, thats the second best show Ive seen JB do, "Moes Alley" in Santa Cruz, Ca was the best show I have EVER seen period!!.....oh, back to the topic, I hope Jimmie Vaughan finally pulled his brothers gear out of that storage shed, that has to be the ultimate back hand to a legend
