Topic: My C77 Bonamassa style LP

OK,

let say i am having a hard time to get a gibson Bonamassa because a few are on the second-hand market and the last one that can be found new are overpriced IMO.

So i decided to buy a second-hand LP GT that had been relices a little by the last owner and i transformed the details to make it look like a Bonamassa LP smile

The guitar is a Custom 77 ( a french brand that make really good guitars for the price).

Cool Lester man, it definately has the JB vibe going on!  If you want to get it even closer you could try the bean-shaped Grovers, nylon saddles for the high E/B/G strings, and Burstbucker pickups.  I'd love to hear your "So Many Roads" track with that guitar.

Very nice.  Kidney tuners may be more like Joe's, but I am a tulip man myself.  I say keep 'em!

Me too, I love the tulips on my '58 RI.  I was just mentioning that because the kidney shaped ones are what comes on the CS JB Les Paul.  Joe mentioned in an interview that he believes that they also slightly change the sound of the guitar but who knows.  Could be one of those EJ "alkaline battery" tone deals... roll

grovers do tend to change the tone a bit, due to their weight, grovers are much heavier tuning machines than the kluson style tuners, and thats because they are mounted on the headstock, which tend to vibrate alot when the strings are strummed. so the added weight can change the way the neck vibrates with the strings causing the tone to change a bit.

im lucky that my les paul came with Grovers factory installed on it.

I know it is still very different from the original and truth is i am not looking to make it be a Bonamassa because it can't be obviously, my idea was to make it looks like a Bonamassa to give me this great vibe that bonamassa gibson have ...

Truth is i am going to play it a lot more than how it was before lol

Gibson knobs don't fit those pots, that's why i had to put 2 aged top hat knobs and 2 black with top chrome (which is not what the gibson have) ... but anyway the guitar sounds great as is and looks really good smile

I could change pickups for BB but i am not sure it is worth the price...

Well as i promissed i made a short video playing on the backing track that people sent me from this forum, and also i'd like to thanks Ges a lot for the tab. Without the tab it would have taken much more time to start learning the song...

It is not complete and not perfect at all, i was just trying out my new guitar inspired by the gibson signature model ... and this is the second take so i hope you appreciate the effort more than the technique smile

and i only play the guitar into a clean channel of my Vox VT15 throught boss compressor and BB preamp.

I'll get the egnater with a line6 DL4 this month, i hope i'll get even closer to THE sound.
