Amazing show, Joe really is one of a kind. I'm still speechless yikes

Here's an unedited tape. Show starts at 01:45. Quality isn't anything superb, but I suppose it's better than nothing for now...
If someone wants to edit or track it, feel free to do it

Re: HMV Picture House 5/12/2009

Yes, as the guys have mentioned, a great show by Joe and the boys. Met up with some of the Bonamasses at Bannermans - trdb, Ray, Lavinia, Born In Hell, Pete... and found there was quite a big queue within a hour to opening. I'd only been to the Picture House once before (to see Walter Trout), it holds 1,500 with  a largish standing area and soft seating upstairs.
Sandi Thom and her band took to the stage, and I have to say I was sceptical intially, but they did play a good set, and what suprised me was how bluesy it was. Sandy's also got the great asset of having a keyboard player who can also play harp! This was almost a hometown gig for her and they went down well.
The venue was getting pretty full yet we had got a good viewing area early on, and when Joe and the band came on, it was great to see them so close. I'll not go through track by track. Joe's playing was as jawdropping as ever and more to the point he seemed to be really enjoying himself - last time I saw him was at the RAH, and last night felt more relaxed. We wven got a couple of surprises into the set, after Bridge to Better Days came an unfamiliar heavy riff. We assumed initially it was a new song from BlackRock, but something was telling me it sounded familar - it was Young Man's Blues (as made famous by the Who, Live at Leeds). It as a rocking tune, so look out for a recording (Warren told me later it would not be on the new album). Joe publically thanked Sandi for taking them out for a great night in Edinburgh, with whisky, haggis, tablet, kilts (one of Joe's roadies was fully dressed in a kilt outfit) and then invited her to the stage to sing The Great Flood! And she certainly did it justice! Nice to see the 12 string for Peenball Hammer before the superb closing Just Got Paid. Following the advice of Tripsy and Geoff we went for a beer before heading back to the venue where we met Joe complete with tartan scarf. Thanks Livi for getting my photo with Joe (I'd not asked at Cocoon), before a quick chat with both Rick and Carmine, as Warren was trying to get everyone in the tour bus as they had a ferry to Belfast to catch that night. Finally met Idolbone beside the bus too.  Later in the evening we bumped into some guys from Newcastle a few hours later and they were raving about the show too. It was that kind of night! smile

Edited to add, I must also give great credit to the girl who was standing between myself and Born In Hell. She gave so much energy to all those around her, with her enthusiasm and passion for the show! smile

Also the guy handing out flyers said Joe will be playing in Glasgow next October - date and venue tbc... big_smile

Re: HMV Picture House 5/12/2009

I want to take this opportunity to thank joe, carmine and rick for meeting myself, mum and dad outside the picture house last night and taking photos with us & chatting for what seemed like hours, I would also like to thank joe for making my mum's night as she got her t-shirt signed and a kiss from all the band she was over the moon.

Re: HMV Picture House 5/12/2009

Joe was at his usual best last night(but i hope he stays away from that venue in the future, it`s about the worst place i`ve ever been to)All the band were realy going for it, and, as Greenose pointed out, Joe looked like he was really enjoying himself, after the show Joe and the guys as usual took time out for pictures and autographs with the waiting diehards, had a long chat with carmine and he told me they will be back next year (probably Glasgow) cant wait, Appologies to Joe for holding him up after my wife kept pressing the wrong buttons on the camera and many thanks to the guy who stepped in and finaly got my picture took with Joe, Oh and Greenose it was good to put a face to the name at last

Re: HMV Picture House 5/12/2009

This has been a fascinating post thread that has been slowing distilled and aged for lo, these what, seven months?! Sounds like a pure Bonamassaterful Fide winner! SO, was Young Man Blues and Sandi Thom on The Great Flood the only strays from what had been the norm setlist?

P.S.-Bonamassa Fan, you got a pure dose of Joe Bonamassa when he came back at you with "You're Bonamassa Fan, HOLY SH*T!  Remember, you started this post and he was certainly aware of it. Ans that was way back, just after the Royal Albert Hall "gig of a lifetime"...

Re: HMV Picture House 5/12/2009

Got back to Aberdeen after the show at 2 in the morning last night so this is the first chance I've had to dissect my photos.

Thought Joe and the band were absolutely fantastic last night. However, the sound was a bit off in the venue I thought. Several songs sounded muffled/as if they were coming from a different room or something. The great performance meant that that didn't matter though.

Some photo's from last night.

It's not a great time to find out that the zoom on your camera isn't great but you get the idea big_smile

Great show guys. Well done! cool
