Topic: Bonabaptism Norwich 02-12-09

Soooooooo anyways, I went to my very first Joe show last night, so I'm now officially Bonabaptised wink

I was absolutely blown away, but managed to get some cool pics (which I'll post later once I've sorted through them). Not only that, but I managed to meet up with Joe, have my pic taken, and got him to sign my RAH DVD booklet, how's that for a first show?

Right then, first off huge kudos to Sandi Thom and the band, I was really impressed with them, and I thought they were a great choice for a support band. Despite Sandi's guitar breaking mid set, (much to her embarassment, but they sorted it quickly and we all had a big laugh about it wink), they were excellent, playing all stuff from her new album (which I bought and got signed).

To be perfectly honest with everyone, I was that blown away by Joe, I can't remember the exact set list so I'll tell you what I remember (in no particular order)

Django (starter for 10)
John Henry
If Heartaches Were Nickels (I'm sure Joe forgot the lyrics half way through lol)
Woke Up Dreaming (always amazing to watch)
Story Of A Quarryman
Sloe Gin
Lonesome Road Blues
India/Mountain Time
Happier Times

So Many Roads

Ball Peen Hammer (Joe got to show off the new double neck)
Just Got Paid (and the Flying V)

I can't remember fully, but I'm pretty sure I got everything, if not I apologise, but I am toally awestruck. Joe exceeded all of my expectations, and Bogie, Rick, and Carmine were all on top form too. This rates as one of THE best gigs I've ever attended, and I've been to some biggies wink but for me, my first ever Joe show was a truly momentous occasion, and one that I will NEVER forget.

Thank you Joe and the guys and everyone at J&R and Melissa of course, for making me one of the happiest people on the planet, great singer, outstanding guitar player, and a nice guy to boot. Roll on May is all I can say wink

You're right it couldn't have, was disappointed at not getting any video footage, due to the inability of one member of security to keep his head out of the way of my camera for the duration of a whole song lol but that was just a blip, and it did nothing to spoil my day wink

I know that he played Django, but that may have been during the soundcheck lol I'll probably remember in a couple of weeks when it's all had time to sink in properly wink
