Topic: Arc Angels New CD/DVD

I just got the new 3 disc Arc Angels "Living In A Dream" CD/DVD Set.  It is a live CD and DVD of their debut 1992 album, plus a few new tunes and studio tracks.  Haven't checked it out yet, but it has been released and can be purchased at www.arcangelsmusic.com .  Anyone else have it?

Re: Arc Angels New CD/DVD

I like the new studio tracks, there are only 3, but they are good tunes...One of them is a cover of Paul McCartney's "Too Many People".  The live DVD/CD is great, but it is basically the entire Arc Angels album from 1992, just live....but I love to watch Doyle play, and I also am glad Tommy is on this set.

I'll be treating myself to this at Christmas smile

Re: Arc Angels New CD/DVD

been listening to it non-stop.  I love Doyle's playing...its obviously so rooted in texas blues (he took lessons from SRV), but his playing is also so unique.  It may lack what many call "chops", it it is so raw, melodic and soulful.  Charlie also sounds great.  I highly recommend this set.

Re: Arc Angels New CD/DVD

That's because Doyle doesn't know scales apparently. There was an interview he was giving, and they cut to a shot of him and some kid at some guitar clinic he was at, talking about how he doesn't know exactly what he plays, but that people have told him it was pentatonic. He really doesn't have a clue, just an ear. Which was mind-boggling really.

Re: Arc Angels New CD/DVD

Especially amazing that he is a top call studio guy and he doesn't even read music....People like Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Sheryl Crow, Roger Waters, Me'shell Ndegeocello, Taylor Hicks, Susan Tedeschi just want him on their albums because he sounds so unique.

Re: Arc Angels New CD/DVD

My dad is letting me barrow his copy for a week or so.  I made it half way though the DVD last night.  I've love Doyle and Charlie Sexton they are a great team.   I kind of get the impression from people at their show this past year that they didn't like the fact Doyle puts so much effects in his guitar sounds.  Things like "That doesn't even sound like a guitar it sounds like a keyboard!"  It really pisses me off when people get mad about his sound.  I guess you either get it or you don't.  Anyways I've seen all these guys in different bands for years.  Doyle opened up for Clapton in 2001 and then played with him in his band for several years after that (which is where I mostly saw him)  Charlie Sexton used to be in Bob Dylans band and that son of a gun can play anything (Guitar, banjo, piano, etc....)  and I saw Tommy and Chris When Kenny Wayne Shepard (I spelt that wrong I think) had Double Trouble tour with him.   All these guys are very good musicians and its wonderful that they are back together again after a basically 2 decades off.  Get this Set its great, and these guys only promise to get better!

Got my copy yesterday. Kick-ass! As good as I remember them being from when I saw them in Oklahoma a few years ago.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.
