Topic: rediscovering old gear again

i've been digging through some of the gear that i've not used for ages. this includes 3-4 guitars that were brought cheaply with a view to mod and never got round to it.

one of these was my epiphione les paul goldtop. this is the 56 goldtop with p90's fitted to it. i picked this up for cheap via a friend, after always wanting some kind of goldtop. the main reason for stop playing it was that i could never balance out the output of the two pickups. the neck was always louder than the bridge pickup.

today i've dug it out, restrung it, set up the action and adjust the heights. the result was a perfectly balanced sounding guitar that really sounds nice and clean and sustains well. you can hear every string when playing chords. think it might take over from the strat for a while.

the motivation for this was seeing joe playing just got paid at the class 5 launch. not the same guitar as joe's but got me nearer.

what gear have you rediscovered recently? share your thoughts.

Fender 60's Strat>Fulltone OCD V4>>TC Electronics Polytune>Orange Dual Terror>Torres 2x10 Cab(with a vintage 30 and a greenback)

Re: rediscovering old gear again

I've rediscovered my Dr. Z Maz lately.  I have been so into my vintage Fenders and JB inspired rig that I've neglected some of my other amps.  Same with my PRS CE-22, it's been getting the lion's share of my attention this week.  I love my '58 RI Les Paul so much that sometime I forget that I have other guitars!  I'd like to revisit my old '70s SG soon and get back into playing more slide.  The poor frets on that guitar are so worn out that's about all it's good for!

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

I've dug out my old DS1 (early 90's maybe).  Sounds great in front of the Fender amp

I also have an Epi GT reissue, made in Korea.  It's my living room guitar (kids can play it, etc), but it sounds GREAT!
