Topic: tea for one tone

I'd love to hear how Joe gets his "Robin Trower" type tone for this song. Any ideas?

Re: tea for one tone

A direct quote from the Encyclopedia JB do ya?

"I have a Idea.....  It was a TC Chorus....on the Marshall superlead.  A prescription Electronics Univibe copy on all.  A korg G-4 slow speed Leslie on the Silver Anniversary only.  Everything dimed(on 10)  and go for it.  EV 12 Ls will handle that kind of level.

A 1953 Tele for the intro only.. Marshall superlead only dry for the intro.?Sorry that was the only overdub except the double guitars. ?"

One of my favourite parts on any song: 3.21 cool

Re: tea for one tone

He answered this once. I asked what guitar he used and he posted his setup let's see if I can remember.

I think it was his '58 RI cherry burst run through a chorus and delay and his Silver Jubilee, but I think there was more to it. Search "Guitar used on Tea for One" in the search section to find it

Re: tea for one tone

My "Tea for One" tone is achieved using my Ceriatone HRM100 + Marshall DSL100.  Effects used are a Boss RT20 (great Leslie sim), Delta Lab Chorus (nice cheap chorus), EH Holy Grail Reverb, Boss DD3 delay, and a Tubescreamer to boost the signal.  I put the leslie/delay through the Marshall's effects loop and the chorus/reverb through the Ceriatone.  I like using the slow setting on the RT20 for that tone.  I tried a Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe as well and it got me even closer.  I love that tone because despite the amount of effects that he's using to achieve it, it still sounds very organic.  One of my all time favorite Joe songs.
