Topic: Virgil and The Accelerators Live in Margate

Friday 27th November, woke at George's with the words Michael it's 9 30 (SH*T) and had to be at Schipol Airport for 10:35 for my 11:35 flight, after about 3 hours sleep talking with Cathy George Geko & Rudi (so much laughing) dashed in car at high speed to airport, just made it

After seeing Joe and the boys live thru Europe this past week i had the next day free to spend in Amsterdam
OR ... fly back early to catch Joanne & Virgil live in my home town, done the latter and jumped on an early plane to London City
Back here wasted with 3 hours to spare, Martin (mbcl) manager of Virgil Tom Gabriel, surprised them with a visit to my place, we had fun showed my JB collection, talking, playing vids and some guitar playing cool .... then made our way to venue, a neat Blues bar basement club 1 mile away with a very good sound.
What a show and so glad i made the early quick dash back from Amdam .....
Virgil and The Accelerators are just amazing, Only AC/DC and Joe Bonamassa have give me that early sign of WOW!, Limitless Power and Energy, just oh so special, you just know that this is special , how can you get clean power with rawness in a small club, but they literally tore the place down, and you smile when you see maturity in Virgil 18 Tom 19 Gabriel 16
it's like watching the early Beatles i swear at The Cavern

Enjoy the Power ...........

Re: Virgil and The Accelerators Live in Margate

Thanks for the review and the vids Michael.

It was very kind of you to let Virgil play your JBLP. I bet it enjoyed the workout!

Re: Virgil and The Accelerators Live in Margate

That was cutting it a bit fine but I am so glad you made it back for the Virgil and The Accelerators gig and have put vids on youtube. They are amazing and to hear them play Joe's stuff  - Had to Cry Today - it was brilliant, that was the first album of Joe's that I bought. I am really looking forward to seeing Virgil, Tom and Gabriel at that The Jazz Cafe in December.

Hope to maybe catch up with you in southampton on Tuesday.

Re: Virgil and The Accelerators Live in Margate

I agree wholeheartedly with Michael's unbridled enthusiasm for this band, even though I've not yet had the pleasure of seeing them live.  I must say that I would give just about anything to be in London tomorrow night to see Virgil and the Accelerators play at Jazz Cafe with none other than Joanne Shaw Taylor and Oli Brown.   Perhaps I'll be lucky enough to get over to the UK to watch them tour together this spring.

Meanwhile, thank God for YouTube, and for the good people who shoot and share videos, that's all I have to say.  That was my introduction to this incredible trio, and to this day, I keep going back for more.  I've grown dependent upon the skills of a few of my friends to keep me in the current British Blues loop.  (Thank you Martin, Tripsy, Michael, etc.)  I also have in my possession the band's incredible brand new EP.  It's fantastic!  Both covers and originals - the skills that these three young men have are not to be believed.  I do have a weakness for guitarists...... and so my focus is on Virgil.  Watching him perform simply boggles my mind.  He was born to play ...... it's as simple as that.  He's one of the special ones, and I feel very lucky and honored to have come to know him, and his music at this very early stage in his career.

If you didn't know it, Virgil's hero is none other than our Joe.  It thrilled me to no end when Virgil was able to meet and visit with Joe prior to his show in Wales (where Virgil is from) just a few weeks ago.  Joe, of course, was a gracious and generous host, and made Virgil's year - of that, I'm certain.

So, my advice to you is, watch the videos, order the CD - become a fan now..... on the ground floor...... and then, enjoy the ride up.  It's going to be fun, and I intend to be there for every bit of it - figuratively speaking, of course.  wink

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: Virgil and The Accelerators Live in Margate

This is another reason why I love being a member here, I've been exposed to some great music by other artists just through reading all of these postings. I've never been a blues fan, up until this year. Now I have stuff by JST, SRV, Walter Trout, Robin Trower, and I'm going to get some Oli Brown, Virgil, Derek Trucks and more and more as I hear of them real soon. So a big thank you to everyone for opening my eyes (and ears) to many great new artists (and some older ones that slipped under my radar), and of course, big thanks to Joe who brought me here in the first place cool

Re: Virgil and The Accelerators Live in Margate

Michael, that was tremendous as usual!

And I too am also enjoying Virgil and The Accelerators new EP. I want to thank my special little friend (she knows who she is) who sent me a signed copy from the band; got it less than a week ago and it is excellent!

That must have been one heck of a show to be at. cool From your video, the club reminds me a bit of Shank Hall and I've seen lots of great shows there. Hopefully, the smaller clubs will always remain.

Thanks for sharing the videos Bro! smile

Joe is the Best!
