Topic: Question about the European rig

Amazing gig tonight in Llandudno...massive tone!

I was just wondering if this rig/pedal board varies at all?

I saw two V.W's up there tonight with the Cat5 and SJ. Was there any difference with the white panelled (old style knobs?) one? I don't think my eyesight is up to scratch, but did they both say Twinkleland?

I loved to see all the guitars out in force, especially (my favourite tone) the flamed Les Paul (what one is this exactly guys?).

Those MM guitars are v.v.nice. wink

Re: Question about the European rig

I know in one Youtube video he's using both the black Van Weelden Twinkleland and a Two-Rock Custom Reverb Signature.  He also mentions that it's his "European set of gear".  I think it would be kind of different for Joe to use 2 of the same exact amp unless Peter Van Weelden made some differences between them that we aren't aware of.  When I saw him last he had the Red Twinkleland, Carol Ann JB100, Category 5 white JB100, and of course the Jubilee.  What a great tone!

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Re: Question about the European rig

Nice to know there are a few variations in creating that monster tone. There was also a pedal (I think for Happier Times) that was quite an aggressive sound (not a TS I believe) - the ending to that song was so good. big_smile

Re: Question about the European rig

Yes there are two Van Weelden Twinklelands in his rig indeed.
I have seen them in Muenster recently.
One is a newer updated version. I'm very sure that he set both different
to complement the SJ in a different way.

Re: Question about the European rig

Yes there are two, one black and one silver. I had the pleasure of watching Joe show Virgil around the rig on Saturday. Then he gave him the twin neck and plugged him in! I will do a more detailed report once I come back down. Joe was brilliant and gave him loads of time.
