...oh yes, and a big hug! big_smile

I sent her the link to this topic. wink

Hug duly delivered George! You could get a guy in trouble lol

She remembered you and Cathy from Leamington - especially the hugs!

Joanne played a storming set at the Robin last night - what I didn't know before was that it was a hometown gig for her, and folks turned out in their droves. Biggest crowd I've seen there for ages. She was really smokin'.
Virgil and the Accelerators opened the show with the best set I've seen them play, and Joanne had Virgil back on stage with her to jam on the encore of "Going Down". Strange really - this girl is going nowhere but up!

Took lots of photos - will post some later.

Ian

Please be in no doubt that this is the REAL ME! Beware imposters........................

Re: Joannne Shaw Taylor

It was Joanne's 20th gig in a row, unbelievable what she pulled of of the bag, poor girl is shattered. She gave a masterclass of which we were willing pupils smile

As promised - some pics from the Robin gig - including the Jam with Virgil

I forgot to mention that our friend Tripsy was there with videocamera, and the Varmints, who had been busy interviewing Joanne and Virgil (and someone else wink ) for their radio show, so plenty to look forward to there too.

Thanks for the heads-up, Bob.  We'll be back in the back also.  Wow...booking shows for mid-February.  To Marylanders on the forum in general; If you haven't seen Eric Sardinas, he puts on a pretty amazing show.  Just ask Roy LOL.

Computer illiteracy somehow put my text in the middle of your post.

I just want to add that Eric is the bomb on the slide. Voice a bit gravelly but man does he strum that old git, and you have never seen a more beat up instrument in any act! Must be one of those magic ones. smile A don't miss performer. As the Crow Flies is a special favorite.

Sorry....guess I should ask Evelyn Wood(head) for my money back on the Sped Redding course (any Cheech & Chong fans out there?)

I agree that his electrifying approach to slide playing (old, beat-up or burnt-looking Dobro style guitars played through a Marshall stack at maximum grindage) is definitely the most interesting part of his act.....vocally....ehhh :-)  But you can sure tell he means it and that is a big selling point to me.

I don't know about these things, but my GF says he's a "major hottie" for you women bluesfans.

Re: Joannne Shaw Taylor

My better half agrees. Something about animal magnetism. Saw some lusty stares but no flying undies. Funny, I didn't pick up on that.  big_smile

You're right about that old dobro looking like it had been rescued from a house fire.  Man though, he just wails on it. Definitely a different approach to the blues. We loved him ('course that was after 5 hours of free pours at the micro brewers beer bust associated with the Blues Fest. ) My kind of Blues Festival!

I failed sped redding too. Think it was the bong.  Rick
