Topic: Danny Bryant

This weekend there is a 3 days -free entrance- rhythm and blues weekend in a city called Dordrecht.Only ten minutes away from my own hometown.
Throughout the whole centre of this town there are lots of stages where lots of bands preform.Over 80 bands.
The second day we started to take a look at some belgian guys who played acoustic chigaco blues(the old style) and where fantastic.
After taking a look at some other guys we went to see this guy called: Danny Bryant.
He was just awsome.First we didn't know what to expect but he was playing blues-rock with the same kind of style as our Joe does.
He was fantastic!!! Really nice and laybacked guy.(talked a bit with him as we bought a cd of him)I recomment to everybody to see this guy when he is playing near you.
he is from the Uk.But plays alot in the UK,Holland,Germany.
I made a  video with my photocamera.Check it out and you can hear what i mean!

Re: Danny Bryant

I know him for a while. He makes powerblues, saw him last year in Westendorp at the Bluesnight and in Schoeppingen last June. His live album is very good.
His newest one -Black and White- too but I prefer the live one.
He played often with Walter Trout at the same gigs, Trout is his example.

Re: Danny Bryant

This fest.(Big Rivers)Where i saw him play would be perfect for Joe.
Today there was this dutch guitar player with his band:Ruben Hoeke, and after him Ten Years After played. The final act of this 3 day fest is going to be the fun lovin criminals. Not my band and after 2 days standing on my feet we went home early today.
Already wrote this fest an email last year but got no respons on it.So if every dutch member will do the same maybe we are going to be lucky next year. This fest is 3 days and is a free fest.

Re: Danny Bryant

The little Bryant family enterprise (dad is his bass player, mother does the merchandising, his wife the soundcheck) is touring again in Germany and Holland. I saw him the first time: powerful bluesrock, very soulfully played. Absolutely worth listening - would be even more so if the drumming would be a bit more subtle.

Re: Danny Bryant

Yes Danny has played gigs around Yorkshireforquite a while. he's good, but a too little close to Trout in sound.

Re: Danny Bryant

G&I saw him open for Walter Trout Sunday at the Paradiso..I'd never heard of him and he blew me away. He played long, grinding blues solos, full of double notes and gut grabbing drops (sorry, non-player descriptions) with great full tone. He sounds alot like Walter on his C.D. The highlight of the night, for me, was when he came out and played a "duel" with Walter. For a guitar-W like myself, it was a feast! Another one I'd say go see!     Cathy

Re: Danny Bryant

I Love Danny's playing and have been following him for a while. If any of you get a chance to speak to him please tell him to get his backside a bit further north. He does so many gigs in Holland and Benelux and the south of Germany but very rarely gets up our way.

Yeah I know its our fault and we are'nt getting on the promoters backs enough to offer him a chance here, but all the same please put in a word!

Berlin is about here nearest to me so far but that is about a 4-5 hour round trip. After that I would be as Red Eyed as the band!

Re: Danny Bryant

Well my dear George, here it is.

I didn't write it myself, translated Imco Ceelen's review for www.bluesmagazine.nl.  Marco's pictures there as well.
I asked Imco permission of course. No problem.

As bluesfans know The British Bluesscene has had  great influence in the arising of bluesrock. John Mayall, Eric Clapton, The Stones, Led Zeppelin all have their roots in blues/bluesrock.
40 Years later there is still plenty of British bluestalent like Scott McKeon, Ansley Lister, Oli Brown and Danny Bryant. So we decided to go to Danny's Redeyeband -Just As I Am- new CD releaseparty in Het Oude Theater in Oss Holland.
As we noticed right away he really wanted to share this new CD with his fans.
Starting with "Blues for Buddy' showing his repect for the blues,  already followed by the titlesong 'Just As I Am' a simple 3 chordsong ending in the most wonderful guitarsolo you can imagine. The rest of the first set was filled with great bluessongs like 'Heartbreaker' and Sweet Little Angel.''
After the break they started with the wonderful slow blues Álone Ín The Dark the ultimate slow blues. Then 'The Hard Way', the John Hiatt cover 'Master of Disaster", followed by old classics like 'Voodoo Chile' and 'Knocking On Heavens Door'' The last song was 'The Last Goodbye'.

After the show Danny told me that he had the feeling he didn't play for FANS but for FRIENDS. So good was the atmosphere during this show.

Personally I must say I had a TOP-Sundayafternoon, very very good band, great new CD, beautiful old theatre, great crowd and very friendly staff."

Go see him if he is around, if not see him too!
