Topic: Tech question on Clapton Mid boost

Hi all.

I have just knocked my Custom shop Clapton strat and have snapped the metal prong underneath the mid boost/tone control mad. I'm GUTTED but at least it can be fixed fairly easily. I know I need to buy a new pot but was wondering if there are better versions of the pot rather than Fender's one?? Thought I could get an upgrade if there is one as I have to get it done.

Thanks

Re: Tech question on Clapton Mid boost

I would only recommend the volume knob.  Its an open back design and I don't really understand why.  I believe the pot is rated at 25k instead of 250k like most fender pots, but as long as its a quality part say CTS brand you can experament with anything in there.

Are you sure it can't be fixed ?

Those pots are not that hard to take apart.

Got a pic of it ?

I've just put a few pictures on.  Not great quality but one side of the pin has snapped right off.  The pot still works fine but the white tone knob doesn't stay on.

I don't think there is enough there for glue to hold it on.

Been quoted about £60/70 for part and fitting.

I just found this

http://www.areyouexperienced.net/fender … st_kit.htm

and it says in the text that the pot should be a 250k pot... also see this pic I have found on an ebay auction

Oh that thing

I thought you meant on of the tabs underneath that you solder too

Best to replace that one

I take it you are not inclined to replace it yourself.

Are you anywhere near Austin, I'll fix it for you

Re: Tech question on Clapton Mid boost

Thankyou for the offer but I live in England. I think I may just hold it on with blue tac until it breaks all together.
