Topic: Paul Gilbert Ibanez Reverse Ice man

Has anybody seen this guys guitar?  Its Koa and I thought it was beautiful, not your typical Ibanez.  Anyway I thought I'd look it up.   $7000 for that thing.  Made in Japan!  Ouch.  Any Gilbert fans out there?

Yup...bigtime.  Check out his early stuff with Racer X, or try and find his very amusing instructional videos.

Saw him with Mr. Big opening for Rush a number of years ago...one of the most amazing guitar solos I'd ever heard in our local sports arena/concert hall (Capital Center, Landover, MD).  TBH was a little disappointed in his recent live solo show when he was the 1st guitar for G3, but still pretty good.  Despite the fact that it's a bit on the poppy side...I really like the 1st 2 Mr. Big CD's as well.  When he & Billy Sheehan get that unison thing going on "Addicted to that Rush"....it's amazing.

Gilbert is a monster player!

Where the hell does one get a black-backed gold top anyway?

Re: Paul Gilbert Ibanez Reverse Ice man

My wife just got me the "Get Out of My Yard" Instrustional DVD its good but way different than most instructional DVD's lots of live clips and its mostly him going over how to play songs off that CD. But lots of cool stuff. Now I can't play a lick of Paul Gilbert stuff but he is one of those guys who is a great teacher after watching the DVD for about 10 minutes I had 3 new ideas just from watching him.

On the DVD Paul uses a lot of different Ibanez, a nice lawsuit Explorer and a couple other great Ibanez.

The wife also got me an Eric Johnson DVD but I haven't watched it yet.

I just like him because hes such a clown about basically anything he's talking about.  I saw a video of the G3 with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani and man a live that was some blistering guitar playing.  I'm more into blues but I'm always happy to watch a great guitarist in action.
