Scumbag Blues is definitely worth a listen:

This album is DEFNITELY on my must-buy list. I've always thought the Josh Homme/Dave Grohl collaboration worked so well on QOTSA's Songs for the Deaf and to add in JPJ as well truly intrigues me. This is rock n roll royalty.
It may well be that this album, for me at any rate, is a 'grower'. On first take the songs didn't do much for me.
Definately a great idea to put the music out there though and let people decide for themselves. Having listened though I did go on to to watch all the interview video clips which were great fun. Grohl is such good value in an interview as was Josh Homme. They had a good time making the record and thats the important thing. They are not in this business just to please the likes of me!
TCV's album hit stores today. If you haven't picked it up yet, here's a preview of what you're missing....

*cough* I've got tickets to see them live in about two weeks! *cough*
Bought the cd yesterday. Color me unimpressed.

Agreed, a big "meh"......
(and a yawn)
I picked it up and it didn't blow me away although I do like it. Sounds just like a typical QOTSA album to me.
Thanks, this is my kinda thing...

Me too Brett, but then I love QOTSA. Actually on the second hearing I started to hear other influences, mostly Led Zep, but nothing that reminded me of the Foos.
Hey Ray (Wombat) are you psyching yourself up for the Edinburgh show?
Me and the teenagers are getting ready for the Hammersmith show on Friday week by listening to the CD loud (at least they are )
cheers
David
Off to see them on Sunday!
Caught them live on friday!!
Amazing. Dave Grohl is a machine! John Paul Jones is just a legend and Josh Homme just makes it special!
Great night!
I am NOW recording their Rockpalastshow on TV on WDR 3. They played in Cologne December 8th.
I didn't know them but I remembered this topic and taught: Maybe I can please someone with a DVD from the show if the recording succeeds. Missed the first 10 minutes from the 100 minutes show.........but the rest should be o.k.
Let me know if someone wants a copy.

Saw them last night in Edinburgh and what a great gig it was. I've never known a crowd go so mental with the first song. Really enjoyed being at a pure 'rock' gig again and they blew my socks off. JPJ played some of the most amazing stuff - including 8 and 12 string basses and a bizarre slide thing with a 45 degree neck (so the fretboard was flat) and was outstanding
If you get the chance to go - don't miss it.

Great show, am watching it now. They would do well to release it officially on DVD in the future.
Went with the teenagers on Friday night to see TCV at the Hammersmith Apollo.
OK, it might not be the sort of music I'd play to relax at home but it was good, heavy loud rock played by a bunch of excellent musicians.

Absolutely Greg, a real powerhouse and hugely popular with the crowd. Josh Homme seemed to be particularly popular with the female fans but when the band were being introduced it was John Paul Jones who far and away got the warmest applause. For me it was a chance to see a legend and he didn't disappoint.
Wombat talked about his different bass guitars but did you see the one with the blue LEDs between the frets that flashed as he played Ray? Very Christmassy I thought. And he played keyboards for some of the time and one of those things with keys and frets. Man, can he still play. It would have been worth going just to have seen him.
On the way out I snapped a pic of a JB poster advertising his gig there in May - see “Cool Pictures” - which was a nice end to a great evening.
