Topic: Clearwater Florida

Well a few weeks ago, my wife and I had never even heard of Joe Bonamassa. Then we saw him do a number on the Bob and Tom show and we were hooked. Since then we've watched the Royal Albert Hall DVD, listened to "live from Nowhere in Particular" (plus assorted other single cuts) non-stop for the past week or so, and tonight we saw Joe perform at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. WOW!
The set opened with John Henry, went right into Last Kiss...included If Heartaches Were Nickles (my personal favorite) TOTALLY rocked with Woke Up Dreaming and encored with Just Got Paid. There were many other songs in there too, but...well at my age I can retain just so much information. As a newbie what impressed me as much as the music (again...WOW!) was Joe's stage presence. It's impossible to take your eyes off that guy. His moves and his body language in general are, I don't know...just beautiful. He plays with his entire being. It's kind of like watching a great dancer or a master martial artist. The moves matched the energy and emotion of the music just perfectly.

All of you that have been here for a while know this, but I just have to say it anyway...this guy is one in a million special.

And did I say "WOW"?

Re: Clearwater Florida

There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said.  Pictures and videos just DO NOT come close to seeing Joe Bonamassa Live.  We were up front for the Orlando show and a little further back for the Clearwater show.  Different perspective, different experience. Both shows were excellent.  Because we were a little further back and because of the venue itself, the sound at the Ruth Eckerd was incredible.  The band used their lighting plus the venue lighting at the Ruth Eckerd and it was very cool.

Of course our bonabuddies from Maryland were here and we met them for dinner at Frenchy's before the show.  Jane and Cathy, it was so much fun hanging out with you guys along with our good friends from Tampa, Frank & Dorinda and our friends  from Winter Haven, Tim and Julianna.  Not to mention, (between the two shows) the time we were able to spend with Joe, Roy W., Rick, BJJ and others.  So much fun.

I miss all of you already and look forward to doing this again soon.   We're so happy the band brought the show to Central Florida.  Come back and see us again soon.  Love you guys. smile

Hey George,

I just put a few pics up from the Clearwater show in the "Cool Pictures" topics.  We didn't take many pics this time. Just too busy enjoying the show. I did get one with Cathy & Jane. smile
I also have some from Orlando I'll put up shortly.

Re: Clearwater Florida

Another amazing Joe show, definitely "one of my favorite Joe shows ever! wink " Joe was on fire (again) throughout the show and the crowd was very appreciative and there were many very well deserved standing ovations during the show. The Ruth Eckerd Hall is a great place to see a concert. Not a bad seat in the house, and they have an outstanding sound system. This was one of the best sounding concerts I've ever heard. The vocals were crystal clear, all of the instruments were easily heard, and it was overall a good, clear, loud, rock show! big_smile

The crowds have doubled since the last time Joe came to Florida, so that should ensure more Joe in the sunshine state!

P.S.
For all the gearheads, the cat 5 amp is back in the lineup, and I must say, I like it better than the bogner. Less fuzz/buzzsaw, more punch in the gut, and clear.

Re: Clearwater Florida

Welcome to the forum and to Joe World, Zookroo and Being. You're in for a ride! I don't know how 2010 is going to top this year, but that's the goal. Jane has the actual set list, autographed by Joe, so she'll post it, but I think it was the same as Orlando. And, as stunningly good.
Beautiful venue with a sound system good enough for Joe to leave his own on the truck. Yes, it was that good. Like Ken said, you could hear everybody. We literally sat at Joe's feet. Second row center. I could hear his fingers hit the guitar. I'm still mesmerized by his hands. His voice continues to be strong and clear. He seems more relaxed and confident. I love how proud he is of his fit body. He has become quit dapper!
The crowds are growing and becoming more diverse. We had a young boy, with a Rick hat, in front of us. He was cemented to his seat. It warmed my heart. The band seemed to be having fun too. There were a few giggles and moments of interplay that boosted the atmosphere even higher.
As of last night Miami wasn't sold out, so I hope that changed. Pity the fools that missed their chance for some Bonatherapy. I say we taunt them!!!!   Cathy

Re: Clearwater Florida

Welcome to Joe's world to all you newbies. I brought 5 of them with me to the show. The performance was great, sound impeccable, and the new light show a great addition. It was fun running into Jane H and her crew outside talking to Joe. Can't wait for the next Florida visit.

Yes...JGP has the Dazed & Confused middle and makes for a nice rousing finish to the show. Although I also liked previous shows when he finished with "Asking Around for You" and sang it without the help of a microphone at times...very moving.

Re: Clearwater Florida

A friend told me about Joe several months ago , so when I saw he was going to be in Tampa area my wife and I got tics, even though we knew little about him.I am 69 years old, saw Elvis at the Fox in Atlanta in 1957, saw the Allman bothers play at a park called Piedmont, when we refered to them as the brothers in late 60`s, saw many blues rock people come thru Atlanta before they were well known, but NEVER have I seen ANYONE as good as JOE. It was such a great , unexpected evening, that I bought his Albert Hall DVD and double CD.My wife and I have traveled to see groups we like ,so she looked at me and said"I guess we we will travling some more" and she had that right. Next time he comes to Orlando then Tampa we will be at both shows. I am now spreding the word about the GREATEST showman I have ever seen. I have watch my new DVD only 3 times in one week, but I will show it all my blues friends. I have a 65" tv and head phones and wow, it is next to being there in person(love that DVD set). Here again I CANNOT express the joy of that concert, when I have seen alot of great groups in my years and some how find a person I had hardly heard of KNOCK my socks off.Just consider me an old fart fan!!!!

Great first post! Welcome Butch, from one Florida Fan to another.
We've seen Joe about 15 times now in 6 states, there's no better excuse for travelling than to plan it around a Joe show.
