Welcome tpson and brace yourself! Don't be afraid to speak to anybody wearing a JB shirt. I'll be there with Jane. Please post your Bonabaptism review, they are the best! Thanks for taking the time to sign-up! Cathy
We'll be there too with quite a few friends. Welcome to the forum. Please come back and post after you've seen the live performance. But most of all, have fun and enjoy the show.
my face hurts - from smiling!
I'm still absorbing everything, but a few things keep bubbling to the top...
Joe B never stops - finish a song, grab a guitar, start another song - boom boom boom for 2 hours!
The guitar tones were SO good all night - but there was something special about "Happy Times"
A friend came with who hasn't heard Joe B much - he was blown away by "Woke up dreaming"
"Live from Nowhere in particular" is a great album - being there is better.
I'll be re-living this for a while - but I'm already looking forward to next time!
THANKS Joe !
Just Got Home from the Show at the Plaza Theater. I had seen Joe 3 times before Tonight. I took 2 friends that had not seen him before. The show was absolutely fantastic. My favorites were Heartaches were Nickels, Slow Gin, and Woke up Dreaming. Joe's expertise on the guitar is awe inspiring. I was once again floored by the show. I waited around back for Joe to come out. He graciously signed the back plate for My Indie FDL Guitar. Thank you Joe for an awesome concert. I will cherish the signature forever. The Guitar by the way is an awesome player.
Every time I see Joe, I always walk away saying "That was one of my favorite Joe shows", and last night was no exception. Great performance, sound, lights, and crowd. I brought my sister for her first Joe show, and afterward I asked her how she liked it. She said "That was intense!", and it was.
Joe's voice was as good as I've heard it, playing was flawless and Joe had the sold out crowd in the palm of his hands for the whole show.
Hung around the bus (and 18 wheeler) after the show, and I think this was the biggest crowd I've ever seen wait for Joe after a show. As usual, Joe hung around signing, talking, and taking pictures with his fans for a long time.
Every show is perfect in it's own way, and every show is little different...the mark of a great performer. Can't wait for tonight in Clearwater!

Great to hear Ken. You summed it nicely "One of my favorite shows", certainly know what you mean. Even with the technical problems in Atl. it was a great show. Glad your sister enjoyed it! Have fun in Clearwater...

Absolutely, each show has it's own dynamic but in the end, this band works hard to satisfy and delivers in spades.
I thought the Plaza was a nice venue (especially from front row near center) and the ability of everyone to have comfortable seats and then approach the stage for the encore made for a warm vibe.
If those were Joe's stage lights, I liked them. There was only once or twice that they distracted and overall they added to the rich feeling of each song.
A Joe show is the best entertainment value there is. We can't wait for tonight at the much larger Ruth Eckerd Hall...a place known for it's good acoustics.

Going to the Clearwater show tonight. Just wondering-is there an opening band? What time has Joe been going on stage? I need to plan the pre show festivities.

There was no opening band in Charlotte, but there was in Atlanta. Whatever your ticket says, be there before that. Joe is very prompt in starting.
Greetings from the Internet Cafe in Clearwater Beach. I heartily agree with Ken. One of the best! The crowd was energized the entire time. It was wonderful to see how many young fans were there and fully animated. I can't rave enough about the clarity of sound and the perfection of the lighting, IMHO. Joe's voice had that extra something too. At one point I whispered to Jane that it was "scary good". The after show comments were as Ken reported. Slack jawed new devotees, wondering if the experience was real or memorex..lol..
Our pre-show meeting with Joe, seeing Bogie, Carmine and Rick made it feel like a coming home. Then, the bonus of hooking up with Ken, Sue and co., as well as getting a big hug from BJJ, meeting Ms. Tia and their son. I think I'm beginning to understand why Dead fans took to the road with the band. I think I could be happy on the road chasing these guys.
The selfish me knows that access to Joe and the Band is going to become harder as they become more popular, and that makes me sad. The true fan in me understands and I wish them all the success they so deserve!
***IMPORTANT*** Joe was commenting on his recent award as "Break-out Artist" and the irony that on November 11th he will celebrate 20 years of gigging!! Congrats Joe and I raise a glass to the next 20!!! Love to all, Cathy
(your editor is delighted for you as he looks out at the gray drizzle...)

Yep, a two hour audio assault is how I remember it here. The best thing is when you are at the hour and a half point and suddenly get a sad feeling knowing it will end. 4 days more and he's here in SoCal.
Well I reckon I'll chime in. Even though I don't have the set list I can tell you some highlights. John Henry rocks HARD.
Oh BTW...spoke to Joe briefly before he picked up his guitar and had a little fun with "Who are you dude? Some Johnny-Come-Lately? Some Overnight Sensation?" When he looked up and smiled I congratulated him. He said, "20 years on 11/11..." He spoke about that during the show...
Anyway he went promptly onstage and the Bonamassa Band shook the foundations of that old theatre and laid waste to the rafters. The roof was on fire. From TBOJH to Last Kiss was SMOOTH. Rick sang his harmony and as it faded that minor blues intro thundered goose bumps up my spine and set my hair on fire. So Many Roads is just effing BLUES. I have spoken. So much feeling!
So It's Like That could make your granny dance. I wonder if those slackers in the latest incarnation of BFTB would care to do it...my frustration runneth over. Ken you should come back. I got a singer you would like. Nickels? just gets better all the time. I can tell they just keep tweaking it and playing with it AND WHY NOT? Further On Up the Road we don't need no Clapton Eric.
Now Sloe Gin is where Joe showed me his sense of humor. On that long intro, he played some stuff (If one would listen properly, sniffs the Doc) that was just playful and amusing. He did a descending run and I laughed out loud. The poor inebriated female next to me moved 2 seats away after a sidelong glance. I was in the balcony at that point.
I vaguely remember missing the horns on that Lonesome Road but not much. Was it on to Happer Times? Then I heard some funk...WTF? What is that gonna break into? WHOA! Bridge To Better Days...MsTia's favorite, even though at the end of a lousy day at work, she was tired of idiot drunks...no honey, they're fans...and the lights had given her a headache...no baby you came with that. Here take one of these...she likeded that song. The Divine MsTia must be happy.
Since I can't sit still I meandered through the Plaza talking with some folks in the Company during the remainder of the show...I had to eat. Got caught, too...with my mouth full...hard to be smooth with a panini on your face...
During the encore one of the Plaza staff was standing there with a look on his face I have come to recognize. He started asking questions so fast I had to hold up my hand. "How old are you?" "Nineteen," he said.
Are you inspired? I've never seen anything like this in my life...
