Topic: Got a New Guitar Today

I don't know what you folks will think of this but I bought a Dean Soltero today. It is basically a Les Paul shape with a bit different carving on the top. Has mahogany back and neck and a carved maple top. Two humbuckers with coil splitting on both by pulling up on the tone knobs. So far I love it. It is made in Korea but appears to be very high quality. This finish is nice and smooth, the action is great and the neck feels awesome. It also has Grover tuners. I bought it because both of my Les Pauls are getting pretty worn out and are in need of refretting and other renovations. This will be a great guitar to take their place until they are back up to snuff.

To me they remind me more of the Yahmaha single cut, the PRS single cut and even the "Heritage" les pauls made in kalamazoo mi.

I played her at a blues jam tonight. Very Happy with the way she sounds and plays. Love the different sounds I can get with the coil splitting on the humbuckers. Got lots of great comments on the appearance and sound too.

Those Korean made Deans are really nice Quality, My brother in law has two Hard Tails and uses them every weekend for gigs, great guitars, if I needed another humbucker guitar that is what I would buy.

Cool guitar....hi Chris....figured ya out from the email tonight.  I've been thinking of getting some sort of LP clone just for grins, change up the Strat tone once in a while....that's a beauty.

Hi Carl,

Yes, I got it at Make N Music. They had two in stock. The one I did not take is a tobacco sunburst color. I played mine tonight at a gig and it was great. I imagine Make N Music will get more in, at least one to replace the one I bought.

These things impressed Leslie West enough to sign on with them so they must be great guitars.  The guitar is freaking awesome with that deep carved cut on the top.  Its beautiful and honestly for the money they smoke Epiphones or PRS SE's.
