Topic: Marshall 8412 cabinet?

Hey all,

I just found a Marshall 8412 cabinet for sale for $165. Is this a deal?

From my research this is what I gathered:
Model 8412
"Lead 4x12 8 ohms"
140 watts RMS

The cabinet is smaller than a 1960A (60x60 in stead of 75x75)
Its MDf construction, not plywood like a 1960
It has a good bass, and probably better than that of a 1922.
Its reasonably easy to pick up for one person, unlike a 1960.
it is not a 1960, and is not worth as much.
More for rock, whereas the 1960 is better for metal.
Best used with a bright sounding open back combo.

What do you think? I'll probably be picking it up tonight, so if I need to "avoid it like the plague," let me know asap!

Pretty sure my buddy has that cab with a JCM 600 60 watt head.  It is light and as far as I can tell its good quality.

Re: Marshall 8412 cabinet?

I just snapped it up!

I has some chunks out of the tolex, colored in with black marker. but that's just mileage baby wink also no logo on the grille-cloth... "uh-oh!... nobody will KNOW it's a Marshall now!?" Whatever shall I do? roll

BS aside, it sounds good. I'm happy with it as-is, and there's piece of mind that it was made in England, and not asia.
For some reason, my Rivera amp really comes alive through a 4x12. It barely fits into the back of my little Honda Insight http://l.yimg.com/dv/izp/honda_insight_ … _trunk.jpg!
