Re: Charlotte, NC - October 28, 2009

A little over a week to go before the Charlotte show.  We have been having fun handing out a ton of flyers and putting up posters.  Contacted local Fox Radio station early on and they have been promoting the show as well.  In fact, this Sunday night, Joe is going to be the featured artist.

Also, went to the venue and worked with the marketing manager so they can utilize some of the flyers and posters there at the venue.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you Patty!!!  Can't wait, it is not going to be a sellout but should be a good showing of support for Joe around here.

Re: Charlotte, NC - October 28, 2009

Went to the Charlotte show last and what a fantastic show it was. Joe and the guys were spot on and sounded fantastic. Carmine was wicked good last nite and I enjoyed that immensely as well. The crowd was definitely into the show and everyone I observed around me loving it. Even the elderly usher people of the auditorium were jammin with Joe. Had hoped to hear "Asking Around for You" last night but I guess that wasnt in the set list. It was really cool to see everyones reaction to the acoustic solo set by Joe. The man never ceases to amaze me at his grace on the neck of a guitar. If you were not a fan by the time the show was over last night...you probably never will be. Simply amazing...nothing else describes the whole band really. Very very tight...loved it!

I do want to give a big thumbs up to the Ovens Auditorium staff for being very kind in allowing access to areas to photograph from as well.

Last night Joe was greeted to a nice crowd in Charlotte at the Ovens auditorium.  Very vocal but not overly so.   At one point, you heard this little young voice say "GO JOE"!  What a smile that brought from Joe and the audience loved it.  During Woke Up Dreaming, some guy yells out, "FASTER", Joe stops, gives this look like are you kidding!  But after that, he put on a clinic that was amazing on the acoustic, brought the house down.

Some of my favorites was "So Many Roads", the version of "Sloe Gin" was one of the best I have heard, the solo was out of sight.  HTCT was off the charts, oh yeah, speaking about charts, Joe announced that "The Ballad of John Henry" was back at NUMBER 1 on the Blues Billboard Charts!  "Mountain Time" was so soulful.  I really like Joe ending the show with "Just Got Paid Today", nice way to end on a super high note.

Joe, Carmine, Rick and especially Bogie were on their top form.  Joe's vocals were very good and his guitar playing "searing" and "soulful".  Bogie was out of this world, playing in front of his family and friends, what a response he got when Joe introduced the band.  Carmine, was really into it last night with some amazing playing and Rick was "spot on" with his solid keyboard playing.

It was great seeing a bunch of Carolina street teamers, like Van, Chris and Jon.  Good to see Roy from VA down too!  AND it was indeed a pleasure to have the one and only, MELISSA DURSE there at the show too.  Great to visit with her before the show.  Took her to a real landmark restaurant in Charlotte, called the Penguin.  She even tried, Fried Pickles!!!  Which are great by the way.  Oh yeah, the guy that goes around the country looking for the best little restaurants, Guy ?, I forget his last name, he has the blond spiked hair, he is on the Food Channel, and does the Apple Bees commercials was there hanging out!  Pretty cool.

Good visiting with Joe before the show, showed him some old pictures that I have taken over the years.  Come a long way my friend...  Off to Atlanta this Friday...

Set list below:

1. Ballad of John Henry
2. Last Kiss
3. So Many Roads
4. So It's Like That
5. If Heartaches Were Nickels
6. Further on up the Road
7. Sloe Gin
8. Lonesome Road Blues
9. Happier Times
10. Bridge to Better Days
11. Had to Cry Today
12. Great Flood
13. Woke Up Dreaming
14. Mountain Time
Encore
15. Ball Peen Hammer
16. Just Got Paid

Re: Charlotte, NC - October 28, 2009

David  and GraphicsGuy pretty much summed  it up. I'd like to add  that the entire band seemed  relaxed and were really having fun. You could tell that they love what their doing. It was nice to meet David and some of the other street team members.  Chris, Angie, and I are working hard to build a Bona-posse  in the western part of the state.
