Ian,
Those pictures are Brilliant! They rival Rhonda's (a/k/a photogal) great pictures of Joe. AND I can see the thumb pick that you described. Interesting using a thumb pick and nothing else other than his fingers. I MUST get to see this up close and personal someday.
I hope you do like I have done. Pick out your favorite picture of Oli, make and 8 X 10 and take it to a gig for him to sign. I've done that with a few atrists and they hang in my den/music room. I must say, they are my prized possesions to think that I took the picture and then at a later gig, had the artist sign it. Makes it very personal rather than a poster or signed CD although, I do treasure those too!
Roy
Hi
i'm going to watch Oli for the first time tomorrow night in York (with Walter Trout)
i've listened to Open Road and really looking forward to the show

Wow! Ian, your pics are fabulous. Thanks so much for sharing.
It really makes me happy to see so much support for Oli and his band on this forum because I know what a discerning bunch you all are.

Great pictures.
Have you noticed how the great players all seem to have long straight fingers ?
That's my story anyway.
My curly stumps give the game away re my playing !!

Good point Pete.
Good to see you back now the dark nights are here.
Methinks that judging by your lovely collection outlined in your signature that you are far too modest !!
I saw Oli Brown in York supporting Walter Trout on Sunday
I thought Oli was really good although only a limited set as support
I now want to see his full set but have noticed his Manchester gig is now cancelled so will have to catch him another time
I met Oli and got a signed CD and he seems a down to earth guy - he's off to Memphis to record a new album which should be out next May.
First time I saw Walter Trout too and he and his band were awesome - another one on my list to see again

Nice to hear that you enjoyed Oli and his band. There are irm plans for a UK tour next May!
Saw Oli and his band for the first time at Sheffied Boardwalk last night. Very impressed.

I wish I could've been there Nick. The Boardwalk is a great venue, saw Oli there in March this year.
I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Did you get to speak to the band after the show?

I didn't get to speak to the band, as I had to dash off to catch a train as soon as the last note rang out - and I'm still out of breath now (the curse of old age....)
I was beginning to have gig withdrawal symptoms but last Saturday night at the Flowerpot I got my fix
It was my first visit to this venue and I went with my cousin, Karen. It was her first gig of this kind. She didn't know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised.
Oli has just returned from the USA where he has been recording his second album with producer Mike Vernon. He has worked with many great artists including Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall and Freddie King. I for one can't wait to hear it's called Heads I Win, Tails You Lose and is due out at the end of March, beginning of April ....that's as specific as he could be
Some of you may know that Fredy has left the band to pursue his own thing. I always loved his playing and hope that he finds fulfilment with his new venture....I wish him well.
Oli's new bass player is called Roland Bacon and he comes from Los Angeles. This is what his bio says
Roland began playing bass when he was 16 and in the States he is the bass player for our friends Blindog Smokin'
He primarily enjoys playing funk and blues and is heavily influenced by all styles of music, including classical, singer-songwriter, rock and blues and soul. His primary influences in the music industry include Flea, Victor Wooten, Robert Cray and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Over the past 10 years, Roland has played with Bobby Rush, Kenny Neal, Billy Branch, Aynsly Lister and Miss Blues. He has played with Blinddog at the Pinedale Blues Festival, the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival (Formerly the King Biscuit Blues Festival), the Tulsa Blues Festival, the Newton Blues Festival and the Dusk ’til Dawn Festival.
We were treated to a great mixture of old and new songs including Evil Soul, Open Road, Played By The Devil, Love's Gone Cold, Missing You, Snakebit and others.
We were also very lucky because Oli had a special guest......Aynsley Lister! He joined the band for Stone Cold (Roxanne) and Helping Hand during which everyone took a solo turn. It was absolutely fab!
It was great to meet up with Ian and Maxx, Sue, Graham, Beth and a really friendly crowd of fans.
Needless to say there are videos......coming soon
Tripsy
Hey Trips - we were at the Oli gig at Charlotte Street Blues Bar in London last friday 5th Feb - the place was rammed and the band were smokin' - nice to meet Oli's new girlfriend too..........

Graham said that was a great gig....I'll have to pay a visit one day! I'm hopefully coming down for the Oli/Billy double header at the 100 club on the 28th. Might see you there.
Sounds like a great gig! Looking forward to the vids. And thanks for the news on the new album!
Tripsy,
Hopefully? This should be fun. We're doing shows with Oli & Virgil this tour.
