That´s exciting, Tripod: I didn´t know up to now that I live in Northern Europe. I rather felt like living in the middle - may I say "in the heart" - of Europe.

Oh alright then.....but I just can't answer this question like 'normal' people because my life simply hasn't been, er, 'normal' in that respect.

I was born in Vienna, Austria, but have been a US citizen from birth - grew up in Vienna, Indonesia and DC, lived in England for 19 years and have now lived in Amsterdam the last 20 years.

So, what does that make me and 'where' am I from???? lol

(answers on a postcard please) wink

"That make's you a  lucky man" to quote an old Alan Price song.

Re: Which country are you from?

Forgive me if I find this somewhat amusing. big_smile The question was from what country.  Then you say you're the only latino.  When I ask (in Espanol) if you are sure about that, you cite your ancestry.  lol  There are more latinos in this country than in some of the smaller Central American countries.

Many of the people I've met from Argentina are of Deutsch origins.  After the mass migration at the end of WWII, the face of South America changed.

Some of the most beautiful & sensuous females on the planet (think tango) definitely come from your corner of the globe.  cool  Me likey too much.  As a carnivore I love that grass fed beef as well.  Respect there.

Just playing with you a little.  All in fun.  Heritage?  I am a complete mutt...growing up, I was too white to be black, too red to be white.  You are not alone.  Carmine Rojas es un NuevoRicano...Mar y Sol.

Re: Which country are you from?

Isle of Man smile One day it will be known as the home of one of the guitar greats

Beautiful idylic location, with lots of history dating back to Druid times, lots of smaller stonehenge typ stone circles to be seen, 2 magnificent castles, one which is still in its full glory, truly a great sight to be seen if you are ever there, Castle Rushen in Castletown. Loads of wonderful nature sights as well.  THere are a big roup of Basking Sharks that migrate to the islands waters every year, big scary mofos, but they are harmless varietys smile THink sharks with no teeth, more like whales to me. Varied bird life. More golf than you can shake a stick at, with one of the best links courses in the UK residing in Castletown. Darren Clarke was the TOuring Pro of the club(not sure if he still is), and TIger and Greg Norman rocked up there before the open to get acclimatised with the Links play. A slight breeze on a day turns into a gale on the peninsular where the course is, and becomes one of the very toughest places I have ever played, your striaght or you are hitting another ball.

I could talk all day about the place, other notables, Largest working Water Wheel in the world, one of the oldest governments in the world(Mellenium celebration of the government was held in 1979), home of the Manx Cat . Still running Steam Operated trains, they are spectacular machines to see up close and firing on all cylinders, a marvel of early 1900's engineering. Did I mention the blues scene, which has catipulted Davy Knowles into the statosphere. Always lots of live music to be found around the place. Not forgetting the TT Races, if you like Motorbikes, then you would love the TT. ANy biker guy should make the pilgrimage for the 2 week festival, a celebration of bikes, coupled with the craziest riders in the world who brave the 40 miles road course. THese guys got balls like Water Melons, that or rocks in their heads. For me this is THE NO. 1 Motorbike race in the world.

I love my home, and I am probably going to move home next year, as it will be a great place for my kids to grow up. When davy did the live stream gig, Roll Away floored me, shed the odd tear, never really listened properly to the lyrics, but that night the song pierced me to my core, something that has never happened to me before.

I live in Gibraltar now, very very small, like a mini Isle of Man

Great to hear a little about peoples homes, great ideas for holidays, the world is a wonderful place smile

Re: Which country are you from?

Hi Tewker,

I think this is the kind of answer Tripod was hoping for when he started this post.  I'll get around soon with a little more than the general location of where I live.

Re: Which country are you from?

Re: Which country are you from?

Kbigcat from the lovely berg of Des Moines, IA. here...  I saw Joe a couple of weeks ago at a cool old theater called Hoyt Sherman Place here in DSM.  Hoyt Sherman was built before amplification so the acoustics are tremendous and it only seats about 1200.
Smaller venue with perfect acoustics - - THEN you put a guy like Joe and the band in there...  WOW! ! ! !  It was a "keep hands and feet inside ride at all times" kind of night.  Joe and the boys took us for ONE FUN RIDE ! !

So - I bought "Blues Deluxe."  It came in today.  As soon as I got home I plugged into the Bose.  Joe + Acoustic Wave = The ride keeps going.....

Have fun everyone! ! !   I am....  smile

I'm from Serbia (Europe) ... All i'll say is "It's not like anything you heard about Serbia on TV" (if you ever did:D:D)

Re: Which country are you from?

Serbia is synonym of war... at least in the news
