Topic: Gibson 57 vs Gibson 57 plus

Replacing the pickups in my epiphone sheraton. So i finally decided that i want classics rather than burstbuckers ( thanks for the the advice on that) Now i realise i could have two 57s or a 57 and a 57+. Help! sad has Joe ever used 57 pluses or does he stick to normal 57s?

p.s. I don't wanna keep bothering you with all my little problems but im asking here cos i feel like i can rely on the advice i get.

Thankyou smile

Me thinks Joe prefers BurstBuckers over the 57's

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: Gibson 57 vs Gibson 57 plus

If you go for the Classics do a 57' classic plus in at least the bridge.  I've heard of guys doing both pickups the plus and liking that setup too.  I love the 57' classic in my neck pickup on my guitar, very bluesy.  The bridge with the plus has balls to its sound, but the neck pickup is so damn smooth and thats what I dig.

Re: Gibson 57 vs Gibson 57 plus

Before you change pick ups, try a rewire to 50's style you might be pleasantly suprised I like my epi pick ups now ( they are 57 copies anyhow ) I don't think you will see a great dif changing to classic 57....

Re: Gibson 57 vs Gibson 57 plus

I had a pair of 57s in a Les Paul, liked them a lot

Switched to a 57+ in the bridge, didn't like it
Made it a little darker, that was about it
I took it out

I like the regular 57s a lot
