Topic: OMG! Back to my Hendrix Strat after 12 years ;-)

Hey folks,

This weekend I have put my old Hendrix Strat together after almost 13 years. In my younger days it was my dream to buy the 97 Fender Hendrix Strat. So did I after saving the money. I bought a Voodoo Strat and had the chance to exchange the Voodoo neck with the Tribute neck, both lefty necks.

But then I put another neck on the body, put the Hendrix neck on this and that Strat, and after a short time period it ended up in my closet for the last 11-12 years. This circumstance was killing me, but I had lost the love for the lefty neck pretty soon. It cost me a lot of brain juice really. "What can I do with this neck? Should I sell it..." You know what I'm talking about. And then last saturday while I was taking a nap in the afternoon I suddenly heard myself saying from the back of my mind:" Put together what belongs together....put together what belongs together....do it now...don't lose more time!" I stood up, grabbed my screwdriver, unpacked the Hendrix neck and put it on the Voodoo body. The neck didn't age over the years, looked like new. When I saw the Hendix Strat back in its case, I was looking down and it thinking: "God, how beautiful you are. How could I be so dumb to not play you in all these years?"

Saturday and Sunday were comletely blocked with playing the Hendrix Strat. I will put up a video on youtube asap. It sounds so great. It's sound is clear, woody and defined, the neck plays like a dream . I must admit that I also was a little bit ashamed of playing the Hendrix Strat live. I mean, I didn't want people to say:" Oh look at him, he wants to be the 2nd Hendrix with this Strat...blablabla", but being 34 years old now, I have developped my totally own playing style and I feel ready to bring that baby back on stage, no matter what people might think.

Looking forward to the vid! smile

Re: OMG! Back to my Hendrix Strat after 12 years ;-)

The strat I built has a lefty neck. Everything else is righty. It's funny most people don't notice. The gearheads that scoff at the look can go home.

Re: OMG! Back to my Hendrix Strat after 12 years ;-)

Joe Perry has made me want to buy a lefty Strat now and play it upside down.

That is a damn fine guitar!

Any reverse headstocks are very cool IMO.

Re: OMG! Back to my Hendrix Strat after 12 years ;-)

I've always thought that the reverse headstock always looked sweet on a Strat.  They say it has a certain vibe and impact on the tone that a normal Strat doesn't...maybe because of the longer thick strings?  Anyways who cares what people think, if the guitar rocks then keep ROCKIN'. cool

I was going to get a lefty neck on baby back when I was getting the neck and pickups replaced, but wanted to keep the tuners, and they were right-handed. I will have one eventually.

Re: OMG! Back to my Hendrix Strat after 12 years ;-)

Voodoo strats were really cool fenders in the late 90's...I still have my mint Sunburst one.
I always thought the tributes were a bit odd but coll in their own way since you had to fight them to get to the upper frets(left handed body)...fly on Jimi!
