Happy Birthday John,a true legend
Happy Birthday. Your music was one of a kind... so was your choice in women.
in all seriousness happy b-day to an inspirational musician. I love his music, he brought something new to the table

It's hard to believe, but the baby in the Beatles, George Harrison, would be 66 this year. Bummer getting old!
Exactly!!! Bummer!
I remember, back in the 60's while watching the Beatles on TV,with my grandmother, and she chipped in with a comment, "what's that horrid music your watching" The Beatles, I said, " they'll never last" she said!!
I had to laugh!!!........ no point arguing i thought!
My Grandmother passed over a long time ago but, The Beatles music lives on..... i can't help, but smile!

Thanks for the vignette. I was a little boy around that time and my parents said the same thing. My Mom's attitude would eventually change, but only for the earlier Pop songs.
Thanks Curby
Me and my mum were talking about the Beatles the other day, i think, because it was the 40th anniversary of 'Abbey Road', and she told me she was more a fan of the Stones! Well, i didn't know that!! After all these years, your mum can still suprise. !!

Yes Brack, never try to figure out a woman, much less your wife or dear Mum.
True story - A few years back I burned an Al Green cd for a nurse that took care of my Mom in the Nursing Home she lived at. Course I played it for my Mom first and she said she liked Al's music. When his cover of "How Do You Mend a Broken Heart" came on I heard this soft voice singing along. It was my Mother singing. After it ended she told me she much prefered Al's version over the Bee Gees. I had to wipe a tear before we had a laugh over that one. I was thinking the other day where my love for music came from and it obviously came from her.
I remember every detail about the first time I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, BUT I mainly still laugh when I think about how my dad thought their hair was outrageously long. (before they really grew it long)
JBSRV-about John's taste in women...I'm goin' to use my hubby as an example...John could of had any woman in the world.... A few years back I read this interview with Alice Cooper in the magazine UNCUT and he reduced it real simple...John truly loved Yoko, lots of people just couldn't accept it. John had that whole artsy side to him, which attracted him to her in the first place, because of her work in a gallery. (as I understand it) Alice also stressed the power of the song IMAGINE, after all these years...it will be a force forever.
Anyway, I never cared for Yoko's screaming, I thought she kinda' ruined a few good songs, but in the long run all that primal screaming may have been therapy for John's issues of being abandoned by his mum...just my 2 cents...
Curby & Brack sweet stories.
