Ya, the production version is now like $2000,
The Custom Shop version is $3000, which is a $1000 increase
as of a few of months ago
Not the best timing
specially when you can pick up a vintage re issue strat for cheaper...
Recently my old EC stratocaster I had was traded in on a les paul. I had traded my dad that guitar for 2 other guitars and he decided he wanted a Les paul traditonal pro. Soooo, he traded the guitar to Guitar Center. I paid $1300 back in 2002 for a new 2001 EC model. It was a special year because it was the first year to have vintage noiseless instead of the lace sensors. Dad got $800 for the guitar which is more then what you'll sell them on ebay for. The man said the ec was mint and knocked another $200 off the new guitar. So $900 later dad got a way better guitar. i think if you look in the vintage section on guitar center still you'll find it in mattews, nc store for $1400. They wont get it but anyway if you look at Joe's its a 89' model i believe which is the most sought after year of that guitar. I've seen 89's run for $2000+ without Joe playing them. So i'll say $4000 would be my limit on joes guitar, only because i wouldn't put it away and never play it. If i own it it would be played.
I remember a forum member had bought Joes EC Strat and that it wasn't going to be resold. If you search the forum you may find that thread.
$4000 is what I was thinking, right on the button
I actually own the guitar, "if" I had to part with it
I was wondering what the value would be
Don't just sell it to a random douchebag! DON'T SELL IT. Really, man, how awesome is it not that you have that guitar. If you sell it, then further on up the road when you no longer need/want the money you got from it, you'll be all like, damn, I wish I wouldn't have sold that guitar.
But yeah around 4 grand sounds fair

lol .. I know, I would offer it here first
It is a cool catch
I dug Joe's Strat tone
Why in the hell would you wanna sell that, if you had it? That's ridiculous.

With a good bit of documentation regarding it's previous owner, yeah?

I definitely have it .... it is the one Joe used
Sometimes other financial things make you think ... hmmmmm
I'll take some pics later for your view pleasure
I know you have it Rick. If you do want to let it go, please consider me. Joes Esquire I would sacrifice my left nut for.
Monetarily, all monies would be gladly donated to BITS.

I just got a new camera, and forgot to set the size to web
may take a little to download
http://rick-connelly.com/JoesBlackStrat/
It also has a signed DVD that says
"Black Clapton Strat Used on This DVD
xxxxx it as much as I did
Joe Bonamassa (signature)
12/21/01"
Can't totally make out the xxxxx, probably says "play"
There are a lot of tell tale "birth marks" on the
fret board of the maple neck
Those marks are evident throughout the DVD
Specially some of the guitar solos
.
Can't totally make out the xxxxx, probably says "play"
"Enjoy"
I was watching the ANDY DVD and was thinking of finding a EC strat. Knowing Joes was already sold, I was hoping I could find one equal and then I noticed this thread. Hang onto it Rick. I hope your playing the snot outta it!!!
