Pretty cool!

I recently got to listen to a band who's guitarist used an AXE-FX Modeler. Sounded REALLY good! And this was live at a club. So, not just recording.

I'd say it was 90% there.

This GTR stuff sounds like it may also be great.

Can't wait to hear all the reviews.........

I believe the really high end stuff can come really close, but I don't have belief they can replace the real thing. Seeing as how something as a pot or any other small part makes such a huge difference. It's like Esters, (what makes strawberries taste like strawberries), we can chemically Duplicate them, but it's still not the same. It's the same with this I believe. I've owned 4 model amps and some other modelling software but I've abandoned it completely now

Re: New way to get a Bonamassa rig?

I remember seeing this a little while ago and being impressed BUT I have to say it does sound a little sterile.  I think it sounds good and more than good enough to lay down some great tracks.  I think the real amps sound a little more inspiring and organic.  BTW Paul Reed Smith is a cool dude, he just needs to drop his prices on his amps/guitars a little bit! wink

Re: New way to get a Bonamassa rig?

So many plus points.

I just can't see anyone who has great tone switching to these. It just comes from the amps being physically pushed to a certain breaking point and the effects of the speakers being moved (greatly).

Has anyone tried AxeFX? That is the only one I could see myself using - until I saw the price - I which case I'll have another valve amp added to my existing setup! big_smile

Re: New way to get a Bonamassa rig?

Interesting but I am a little skeptical.  While tone is the biggest part of the equation, don't forget about feel.  The right tube amp has both, singing tone and a very playable touch where you can still "feel" the strings. It does sound a touch sterile to me also.  My humble opinion!

Re: New way to get a Bonamassa rig?

I think it's really cool and has potential, but I don't think anything will ever make guitar players go amp-less in the studio. An amp will always feel different.

I'd love to play around with that thing though. it sounds cool!
