It doesn't make sense to me.
it's Jimi's dumb @$$ sister. I heard that she f-ed quite a things up, but this one is really bad. The man is known for playing a FENDER (yes I said it) strat... not a GIBSON strat... it just doesnt make any sense

If you want to get the Hendrix tone, you get a Strat. I'm sorry, you get a Strat. You don't get a Strat copy, you get a Strat. End of discussion. Good job to Hendrix's estate for trying to make a buck off of his name though.
It baffles me that Gibson of all companies would make a strat copy. Jimi has always been a fender guy... I really don't see where they fit in to all of this.
I'm going to go ponder this. I might need some aspirin... it's making my head hurt.

I believe the online gaming term "set sail for epic fail" is suitable right now.
Hold onto your hats folks...Gibson just #@$@# slapped Jimi's mother.

Aside from the fact that the "strat" is a complete travesty, I think the idea of a set-neck strat-type guitar is cool.

Gibson describe this piano as "mind bending". No, it's just crap. A hundred and sixty thousand dollars of tacky crap. Pathetic.
As is the 'strat' of course. Tacky and pathetic. My opinion of Gibson just dive bombed. Why would a company deliberately try to sabotage their own reputation with such nonsense?
Cheap and nasty....
Not to mention that it looks aweful! Maybe Joe will start playing those guitars so we can hear Stratocaster sounds again. I just assume he play the real deal even if they did hurt his feelings.
I think that Piano is a cool idea and it looks pretty sweet. Its not like the whole Gibson strat situation which I don't get and being a Gibson snob myslef, I think its sacrilege. It's based off of one of their products that Jimi put a wicked design on. I think it looks cool and would be a great display piece for any person in to rock 'n roll memorabilia. The own the piano company, I'm suprised this hasn't happened already....

Gibson are really starting to get on my nerves! I'll avoid swearing.
I just don't get this stuff? Why can't they stick to making THEIR models and stop making new models that won't sell.
But no, instead they waste wood on other models when they could have used the wood for their les pauls. The hardware sucks now, the electronics suck now, the finish has too much plasticiser in it, the build quality is dropping rapidly.
Gibson, get your act together!
Is it just me, or does that picture of Hendrix on the piano look nothing like Jimi?
I think it's a pretty strange idea for gibson to be putting out a cheap, strat copy and amp with Hendrix's name all over it. Doesn't Gibson have enough legends who are actually known for playing their guitars?
This has to be the brainchild of some corporate geek with no guitar background, and it must be an embarrassment to the real guitar guys at Gibson.
If you ask my opinion (and not many would) its marketing genius, Hendrix is and always will be hot property... That doesnt mean I agree with it but think of all the rich kids / adults who will dig an offical hendrix guitar even if its nothing to do with hendrix.... Lets face it every strat that fender churned out that was anything hendrix was a very big hit. The piano is kinda funky I like it...
Besides who knows that guitar might smoke...
The real disappointment however is the family doing this to his name... they are still in the process of releasing his unreleased masters / cuts which to me is like someone waiting at the other end of a toilet to catch what your dropping down. A crying shame it really is

Yeah Jimi's sister LOL!
When Fender first started marketing what they now call their "Reversed headstock '60s Stratocaster" it first had the rather cool name of "Voodoocaster". Guess who lodged the "cease and desist" order on that one?
Gibson and Fender have had crossover models going back years trying to copy the competion.
I have a Gibson Nighthawk and with the tone pot pulled up (coil splitting) the objective was to copy the tone of a Stratocaster. This guitar has the same style pickup selector switch as a Strat and even the bridge pickup is slanted. It also has the Strat's 25 1/2 inch scale.
If you want to check out a "Fender that thinks it's a Gibson", do some research on a Fender Coronado II.
What bothers me the most about this is that like others have said it seems like the Hendrix estate just want to make as much out of jimi's legacy as they can. I'm not up to speed with the whole hendrix family politics but it seems who ever is running the show wants to eploit Jimi for every last penny.
There are a few products on the market bearing the hendrix name that are decent enough. Digitech hendrix pedal is a good attempt. Amplitube hendrix software. The dunlop hendrix fuzz and wah pedals.
One thing I noticed and fender did with the revers strats, put a lefty birdge on them!
The motivation was because of the good history Gibson had making Hendrix V's... so why stop making the V's? This is a perversion of brand identity that shouldn't have been tampered with. Hendrix played SG's and LP's too.
We already know that Gibson can't make strats. Those epi ones weren't the best.
This looks like a "fanboy" guitar.... nothing more than a souvenir or keepsake with no real tone or value. How much is this thing going to be?
They could've at least made it with a set neck! I could see these being sold at Wal-marts and Best Buys right next to the Maestro (by Gibson) guitars. And Paul Stanley Silvertones for $250.
