Re: Former Members from Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, & Queens of the Stone Age..

Just had a text from my son who is at the Reading Festival. He's watching them right now cool I've asked him to report back but I expect he'll have better things to do wink

Re: Former Members from Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, & Queens of the Stone Age..

Also have offspring at Leeds festival. They called me very excitedly to tell me that Grohl/Homme & Jones played for an hour un-announced at one of the smaller stages. They've inherited my good taste and said this was awesome.

Can't say it bothers me although you won't catch me doing it. It's a generational thing I suppose. Simply telling your mates (or in this case your dad) what you're doing in real time rather than, say, posting here some time after the event. No more distracting than taking photos I reckon.

My son was very excited when he heard TCV had played Leeds the afternoon before and got to the stage early. Apparently the NME Stage tent was packed for the performance and there were hundreds more outside watching it on a screen.

Re: Former Members from Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, & Queens of the Stone Age..

Well, I'll be able to report back and tell you what TCV are like live. Our 2 teenagers were desperate to see them so I promised I'd take them if I could get tickets (which I nearly didn't).

After nearly an hour of battling with the useless service of SeeTickets we suddenly found that a) a second gig had been added for Hammersmith on 18th December and b) Ticketmaster were selling tickets for the London shows after all despite only advertising sales for Edinburgh yesterday evening.

And scalpers are already selling them on Ebay even though they only went on sale at 10:00 this morning and so depriving real fans of the chance to buy tickets at face value mad Uh oh, I think I'd better cross over to the rant thread too wink

Well done, Dad. lol If only I'd known they were going to add the Friday date too. roll
Never mind, my ears will appreciate the rest. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, David.

Re: Former Members from Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, & Queens of the Stone Age..

My two offspring bought me a ticket for the Edinburgh gig.

How cool is that?

I'm maybe not convinced that I'm being invited so the travel and accomodation costs get landed on me - but at least they don't think I'm too old/daft/senile to go with them!

Re: Former Members from Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, & Queens of the Stone Age..

My Humble two cents.
I'm just going to go ahead and say that Foo Fighters are bigger than Nirvana. Nirvana was admittedly more influencial considering the time, but if you look at Hits, Grammy's, albums (six platinum plus), better videos (although Nirvana had GREAT videos) etc.
I always believed Foo Fighters put out a better product and are more entertaining in concert.

Grohl also has better taste in guitars than Kurdt Cobain. Although his options were limited because he was a lefty wink
I liked Nirvana, but I haven't listened to them in years. I love the Foo Fighters, and to me their stuff never gets old.
