Topic: Jubilee Question and Mod Question

Hey everyone I got a question about how you all run your Jubilee's if your NOT running a mulit-amp setup, meaning you are only using the Jub. Do you use the clean channel set to break up slightly, do you use the OD channel, do you use the rythem clip? What types of sounds and setting do you have.

Second, my jub is a 2553 from 1988 in Black Tolex not the Silver. I have been thinking about Modding the Rythem clip so it is foot switchable. Has anyone here tried this? I know some people on the marshall board have. OK one more question if you have the Rythem clip on in your amp then switch to the OD does it sound slightly different that with the clip off because mine does. Not a whole lot and I don't think anyone else would notice but me.

Re: Jubilee Question and Mod Question

OK
First the jube sounds best on the OD channel , to get the best sound I use Joes settings as starting point then tweak according to taste presence 5 ,bass 10, mid 7, treble 5  outputmaster 10 , leadmaster 2-3 input gain 4-5 depending on guitar .
the problem with these settings is when you switch to clean its much louder than the distorted channel so you can play around with the output master and lead master to suit you, Joe doesnt use the clean chanel so its no issue for him

next rhythm clip sound is only using some of the clipping diodes to get the distorted tone whilst the lead channel uses all the diodes to get distortion, clean channel has no diodes in the circuit. rhythm clip does not sound as fat as lead clip.

I found this amp to be dark sounding with a band, and finds it hard to cut through I suspect this is why Joe used 2 jubilee but not sure . you can also use direct out which is the pre-amp sound and plug this into another clean amp I used fender HDR and this adds another dimension to the sound but still uses the jubilee OD sound.

lastly the mod you talk about is on my to do list for my 2553 there is a guy at the metroamp forum has the schematic for the jube with the mod on it looks pretty easy if you can use a soldering iron
