Topic: Liverpool's Mathew Street Festival

Jeez, I love my city! How many cities lay on 6 live stages, 60 bands over two days for free. This year there were hundreds of thousands visiting the city to have a great time in the music capital of the UK. There was even a cruise liner docked at the Pier Head

Here's some pics of Sunday

Thanks for sharing this with us Geoff.

I've a friend from Liverpool and I remember being down there a few years ago when a festival was on. Can't remember if it was this paticular one, but I do remember seeing some great bands. A Who tribute band particularly comes to mind. I really must try and get down again sometime.

Sorry Geoff, I have to say that sounds like my idea of hell! mad Some funny names though! lol
Being in a tribute band may pay the bills, but it is in a way the ultimate insult to new original music.

Duncan, you are entitled to your opinion, but it really is about the music, it gets folk out together enjoying some good music. I can tell you, you would be pretty hard pressed to know the differenc between them and the real thing. Some of the bands they are "tributing" are often not that good live. As I was driving my opinion wasn't blurred by (b)eer cans.

Good point Geoff. I guess it was a good free day out and I'm sure I'd have enjoyed some of it (the Irish traditional music maybe!) Great pictures by the way too... smile
